i really like these ideas.

can you imagine the cry-thread-storm it would cause? lol.

It would be extreme. See I like customization and I never run stock mechs.

But, if you start making changes from stock to get more damage, really, then you're just looking for ways to increase earnings and success by making a build you think is better. I wouldn't hit up players from going Standard to Endo or Ferro Fibrous or upping the armor. But swapping components, yeah. That's when it would start happening. Of course if you just turned the mech into an 'alternate variant' that could be found at Sarna, or a known alteration, the hit wouldn't be as hard or at all. Like replacing a PPC with an ERLL or LL and adding heat sinks.

One other thing that will add to encouraging universal builds would be the return of rearm repair in the form of a campaign mode with the need for salvage to replace destroyed parts and limited access to full repair. Stuff like that could be interesting. I don't see it happening because too many want 'level resets' for every match when they complete it, ping! magically repaired to full. If we could get health boxes in game, they'd probably want that too to magically repair their mechs. Talk about worse than respawns!

I dunno. They have a bit of a record for testing things on the PTR and then just releasing it regardless of feedback. But they did say they would scrap it if it didn't actually improve things.

They'll only scrap it after half of the player base rage quits. With Paul in charge of this, I'm really worried that he will kill the game with his **%@! idea's Just look at his record with the Victor and how long it took them to reverse it. I wish we knew more about what's coming down the road.....

Isn't the business plan supposed to be: make old 'mechs obsolete so players buy new 'mech packs?

I really doubt it's just him making all of the decisions. It sounds like they're going to take a more analytical approach by assigning different values to different attributes of each mech.

Well... they already sold us those mechs. So...

It's hard to say, because they don't tell us anything. I wonder if Paul spends so much of his time gathering data and analysing it that he effectively doesn't have time to look at more than one thing at a time. For the past few months, I guess he's been working on the new rebalance which will apparently change everything forever. Instead of trying out the feedback they've consistently been getting from the fans for years on a test server, they'd rather do things their own way. We'll see how it turns out this time.

Works for everything else in this world, right? Look at the fashion industry.

Paul likes to hibernate for the winter...

Except he also does it during the summer. And autumn. And spring...

It's called "balance by feel"... as in "feel the pillow" while making decisions during the dreamin'.

victors..... you have now ACH P2W, you dont like it ?

I do, but I get bored of piloting the same hyper OP mech, and i'm trying to get every one of my mechs mastered. There is no reason we can't have every mech balanced close enough that picking one over the other is a hard choice.
