You seem out of touch with solo players. I have read through the complaints of many solos and they are tired of getting steamrolled by units. Its either the #1 or #2 issue for many.

Somebody tries to address the problem or maybe get PGI's attention (in futility) and people like you pitch in with the usual stupidity.

Nobody really reads your posts or is even persuadable anyways. Its really just a party line issue now where units are evil and solos are the helpless victims.

Excuse me? Did you miss the part where Armando and I pretty much figured out what we were saying to each other, and why, and thus made that a moot point?

And thus....made your entire post look idiotic and pointless. So yeah, I'm the stupid one. You're out of touch with this thread....

The thread title is misleading, its more or less genuine frustration over clubbing seals because of all the solos making entire 12s.

Well to be fair not only the thread title is misleading. His first few posts clearly read like "exclude solo players from CW" which is a bad idea. If he got a point aside that, it got lost in the clumsy phrasing of his first few posts. He threw around a few absurd ideas, which didn't help his point either.

Yes. The existence of anti-social rambo wannabe morons tends to ruin it for a lot of people.

However, since I actually play CW, I know what I'm talking about. There is little to no toxicity in the CW community. For crying out loud, we practically make organized matches into a party.

"party" for your clan sure, it is CW community's toxic attitude outward to anyone not in clan. Yes, I played CW as well, so do not assume I never played.

You need to read the whole thread, he later states that it is players that have no interest in working as part of a team that "should stay out of CW".

Yes, he did later change his tune. The problem is it took him a while to evolve to that point, and even then he gave you the impression that THAT was his initial thoughts on the matter, you just didn't get it at first. Even though his original post he stated pretty clearly that solo players shouldn't be allowed in CW. Eventually he just redefined the word "solo" to the point that it was wholly inconsistent with his first post.

View PostKodyn, on 15 August 2015 - 02:21 PM, said:

Why on earth do you even give him the time of day? Do what you want to do, this game was designed to allow you access to CW as a solo, in whatever 4 mechs you can bring within tonnage.

I stopped when he kept moving the goal post and changing the definitions of words to suit his position at any given time within the same thread.

It feels like you only figured out what your core point was about halfway through (the thread, not the first post) and then decided that anyone who didn't get it right away is totes stupid.

Pretty much. It was a rather drastic evolution, all the while steadfastly refusing to admit that an evolution in his thinking had even taken place. First it was that solo players should be forbidden from dropping in CW, then it changed to there's no such thing as solo players at all, everyone is on a team. Which not only goes against the universally accepted use of the term "solo player" but also completely invalidated his original point, all the while pretending that was his original point all along.

Fair enough.

Since you have read the whole thread let me ask you a few questions...

Do you agree or disagree that every match that anyone can queue for is 12 real life players against 12 real life players?

Do you agree or disagree that if someone thinks they are dropping solo, acts like they are dropping solo, tells themselves and anyone who will listen they are dropping solo, that they are a 'solo player'?

Do you agree or disagree that the option of dropping in trial mechs makes community warfare less enjoyable for the teammates and enemies of the the players that chooses to do so?

These questions... Come on, man. No one who plays this game would ever think that they're not dropping against twelve real life players. And I fail to see how someone playing the game the way they A.) Can due to not having enough in-game currency or real life cash, B.) Want to play the game, is detrimental to the enjoyment of other players. People don't play the game for the enjoyment of others. First and foremost in the thoughts of most players is not "I really hope that everyone is enjoying themselves, so I better not drop in a trial mech." I've spent gobs of cash on this game and continue to play it because I enjoy it. Sure, I do want others to enjoy themselves, but my primary focus is on my own enjoyment. Which is part and parcel to why I don't play CW but in the rarest of circumstances. I just don't enjoy it. Perhaps there are people who would enjoy CW MORE if I dropped. Perhaps there many who'd enjoy it far less. But their enjoyment is not my primary concern. Mine is.

@Kodyn

So just to be clear, you agree that there is no 'solo mode' in MWO, but there are people who 'think that they are solo players' (even though the reality is there is no solo mode), and that trial mechs should not be allowed in a 'finished' CW....and your issue with my tread/posts is how I explained my position?

Basically, if you point is that I act like a D-Bag / A-Hole...I'm not going to disagree with you. I don't try to be, I don't want to be, but I'll be damned if I don't come off that way in spite of my efforts.

That said, please don't let my failures at written communication stop you from openly acknowledging when you agree with me on a position. (I know I suck at writing, if spelling / grammar check didn't exist every 3rd word would be wrong, I am very aware just how much I SUCK).

I don't know if anyone has ever stated that there's a solo MODE. There isn't a solo MODE. But plenty of people drop SOLO. As in they do not drop with an organized team that they or someone else set up. Solo drops. Not solo mode.

Teamwork is why some groups in the group queue want to play in solo queue, no teamwork for them to face.

Yep. I know. They can't get the same degree of seal clubbing in CW anymore so they go back to the group queue. A place that needs either the 4man limit reinstated to stop this, or a "lance" queue for groups under 4 created (not advised due to super small player base).

Yet you totally failed to mention the part that every person who drops has 11 real life teammates. MWO is a team game, period, end of story...playing solo is not an opinion. This is a very simple, very provable.... fact.

I wish this game had a viable 'solo' mode, where 'solo' players could drop 'solo' without consequences or repercussions for 23 other players. Oh what a wonderful world that would be....but that ain't the world we live in.

The world we DO live in there ARE consequences or repercussions for 23 other players when someone decides "F&8k that, I play this game how I want" then tell themselves "I'm not fat, I'm just big boned" when the fact is "They ARE FAT".

CW just needs a big warning sign that pops up saying "Caution, this game mode was designed for coordinated team play with experienced players. Clicking Accept means you are aware that playing without a Team may result in undesirable match outcomes". This notice could be disabled in the Settings, but otherwise would pop up every time a player selects the Faction Tab.

Uhhhhh. I'm Inner Sphere not clan. Unless you mean "units". In which case, you are still wrong. I used to hop on to Draconis, and FRR servers, and corral some pugs together, and we'd form an impromptu group, and drop together. Are some players a pain to work with, yes. However, those that actually make the effort to coordinate, and work as a team, instead of being "I'm a rambo" morons, are welcomed with open arms.

The community can be toxic to one group in particular, and that group is the aforementioned morons. Everyone else is welcome.

Other than that, there is only one reservation: New players should not be let into CW immediately. Most of them don't even know how to move their mech's arms, and they have no efficiencies unlocked on them.

Often guys in NS (the nicer ones) will work with randoms and pugs. Ask them onto comms etc. I admit sometimes we also get frustrated as well and a few vent on pugs (I do dissuade this attitude but we are all human and tend to be more douchey on the internet than in real life).

Fact is, PUGS are needed for CW badly. Units as a whole should take it upon themselves to encourage PUGS to "git gud" by talking to them and explaining how / why the experience can be much better with better mech builds, explain some basic CW tactics, and encourage PUGS to jump onto TS or Comms. If large groups as a whole did this I believe it could help.

But what do I know ... I've been playing ARK:Survival for the last six weeks while waiting for the mauler to come out. :)
