So I decided to reinstall MWO seeing as I have quite a few mates who play.

First the game wouldn't install as I had that sneaky registry file left over. Took care of that.

Then it wouldn't install because of a "fatal error". Well my .Net framework, C++ and DX are all up to date.

I got my housemate to download and install, then transfer it to my PC.

Now when I launch MechWarriorOnline.exe it loads for a moment and then nothing. I try again..."you already have an instance of bootstrap patcher running". I check processes in task manager...both MechwarriorOnline.exe and BootstrapSentinel appear for about 1.5 seconds and vanish. I can't close either process.

I am running windows 10.

Any help would be appreciated.

Is that via right-click -> properties? I'm not very good with mucking about with software.

No, on the launcher up at the top right there are two cogs in an icon, click that and you have options for 64bit and 32bit.

No, when you launch mwo from the launcher, there is a gear icon in the upper right, click on that then click "Force 32-bit mode" then launch MWO

Can you provide a screen shot of the error? That would help us much more,

I'm not getting an error anymore exactly...it's just MWO and bootstrap sentinel appear in processes for about 1.5 seconds and vanish, reappearing in another second or so.

That's what I have done to end up in this situation. As I transferred the game from my housemate's PC (also running windows 10 and his game runs fine) I have no desktop shortcuts.

Should I try uninstalling/reinstalling again?

I'd recommend trying to install it again but this time when the error pops up send that information to the MWO support team and or here.

I don't know if there is anything we can do but it is a start since the client not opening could be a lot of things I imagine but without an error message it is a lot harder to figure out.

I'll give it another try then. One moment.

Try to reinstall, but run the installer by right clicking the executable and click "Run as Administrator"

When I google'd 0x80070643 the first result is https://support.micr...en-us/kb/976982

While I doubt that website will help I think you may need to reassess your .net installation.
