Why?

Because every naysayer theory crafter would crawl out of the proverbial woodwork to lend their opinion and spin on the subject?

Yeah... that'd be good for the community.

but the lack of infos, will produce this. so...

If they told you all what was coming, the whining and crying would be unbearable.

When Russ took over balance and added quirks, he told us it was temporary to see if buffing weak mechs was a better solution to nerfing over performing mechs. The plan was always to let Paul take over balancing after a few months.

Paul is back in charge of balance now, and that's why everything is being reworked. Some of you wouldn't stop crying about quirks, so now everything will get NORMALIZED!

They are making this game in an ambitious way. The new 4 v 4 battles intereacting with other galactic battles turns all the various matches into one giant battle/war for instance. Thats just a bit more than blue vrs red tdm that massive budget games like Destiny or Tor offer as an example.

I could go on and on about this, but an ambitious game like this is bound to be slower in development and feature completion. Also since it is not only original in design and ground breaking mechanics wise there are bound to be revisions along the way.

ROFL sorry but you just made me spit coffee out of my nose... Your new here aren't you.

Were you here for the CW is 90 days away and 3 years later we get this lame effort which is now all but DoA?

There is nothing ambitious about this game. the core concept has not changed since Closed Beta, Team Deathmatch, WHICH IS NOT what it was originally sold to the public as.

This game is not ambitious. To dat the only thing that has been pumped out is mech packs for money. Which I am not against, but the game is still very much broken in many many aspects. I do not see this changing any time soon.

I have little to no faith in this re balance. It is being done by people WHO DO NOT play this game nor do they understand how it is played..

we have to remember that CW was Promised years ago, and it was a rocky road for 2-3 years,
but PGI has made Amazing Strides to Enhancing this Game in the last year and a half,
we also have to remember that PGI is a small Company with not allot of assets,

i think that PGI has been doing good these Last year and a half,
and i have hope for this New Balance system and what it will bring,

also remember they are running a PTS before release,
so its likely going to be a large Change to make the PTS needed,
so if we find something we dont like we can bring it to PGIs attention,

They are doing an internal assessment that accounts for hit boxes, hardpoint number, and position as well as lore related role of the mech they are apparently assigning numbers to these traits and creating an internal "battle value" the values for all mechs will be compared and used to create the new quirk system. The new quirk system will forgo ultra-quirked values like 50%, instead apparently not only covering things like armor, and weapons systems, but cooling, sensors and other role related items. This info has been gleaned from a variety of posts on twitter and things mentioned in the town halls so take it with a grain of salt.

The intent is apparently to remove overquirked chasis and create a system that incentives roles.

That all sounds great. But unless PGI plans to redesign the game modes and several core systems, the only role that matters is 'MOAR LAZZORS!'.

Rewards for role warfare, info gathering/denying, proper management of boating. I.e., yes you still can boat, but pay in accuracy or something (looking at you top dog) would be nice to see, but would affect anything. New game modes or simply randomizing drop zones, or with the time of day on river city affect ambient temps? Would be interesting if on Manifold, the sun comes into view, raising ambient by 30-40C. We have no idea what is coming, even if all that happens is a change from deathball TDM, I would be stoked.

Anything that would eliminate the deathball would be a HUGE change, almost equivalent to a complete rewrite of every mechanic.

Perception is in t he Eye of the Beholder.

There are still issues with this game that have been known since closed beta yet nothing has been done about it. The only thing PGI has excelled at is pumping out Mech Packs.

I am sorry but CW is an F'ing joke especially compared to what we were initially promised in order to fund the game. The Quirk system has absolutely made the problem worse by pigeon holing certain mechs into boating those weapsons. The maps are still to small. There is no role warfare. There is no separation in chassis other than how much damage the classes can take.

Hell they do not even visit or post on their official forums. I do not know of ANY developer that does that. The Lack of Communication speaks volumes. I truly believe that whatever they are attempting to do will be the nail in the coffin for this game if they screw it up like they have so many other aspects of this game. Even I am only logging in and playing a couple matches a week now.

I think a rework of even the targetting would be helpful. You still get data on all friendlies, but your lance are the only ones who you see enemy targets. I.e, instead of 12 person c3master and slaves in all mechs in one team, only your lancemates get that uh..."feature." encouraging comms, proper commander work, reworking drop to force 1/1/1/1 in a lance, light/med/heavy/assault. Reward said lances with cbill/xp bonus and enemy info, reward lights/meds with bonuses for keeping their heavy/assault backed up and alive, reward heavy/assaults for taking "posts" or "relays" which can only be capped by 60+ tonners... Gawd take a look at some of the mechanics of BTMuX... So many possibilities.

Reward lights/mediums for targetting, by introducing proper convergence, large convergance with no target/ freshly targetted, reduces with both lancemates range, and YOUR time targetted, say up to 10 sec and a lancemate, not affected by ECM, within 90m. Idk... So many possibilities.

What they, and we, need to do is just accept that some chassis are just inferior. Matter of fact, many chassis are inferior to "meta".

Instead of trying to quirk them and level the playing field for all mechs, they need to INCENTIVISE those chassis to reward players who choose to use them Give them more rewards, more c-bills, XP or GXP.

Let players take them as a challenge to pilot, give them roles to fufill and things to accomplish. In other words, give them a fully realized universe to run around in.

Just a small point of contention here: C3 actually let you fire at a target with the range modifiers of the closest member of the network; that's all it did (except the C3 Master working as a TAG as well, but then again TAG was for Arrow IV artillery and nothing else).

We do not have that in MWO.

You will have to excuse me, but I have been here since early closed beta, and believe me the Dev communication is next to nothing compared to what it used to be.
