Unless you design your mech to carry enough heatsinks to do just that...

Well, but then you don't have less weapons.
It's kind of a trade-off.

You can build a heat-neutral mech that puts out a decent amount of fire on a steady basis, or you make a slightly hotter mech that has to watch its heat, maybe doesn't have as much steady damage, but in an emergency, it can vomit out an unproportionally large amount of fire, via alphastriking (and shutting down/dying in the process)

Yes. Those round barrels are supposed to be Large Lasers. Not PPCs.

Heat neutral quad Clan ERPPCs (same damage as quad Gauss):

Well, in TT, you're not REALLY supposed to alpha strike every few seconds.

Some mechs are made to do just that...some are not. Most stock mechs are not configured this way and go for a more rounded approach.

Also you can build you mech to be that way like Fup stated...its not a RULE OF TT that no one alpha strikes....its just not as necessary.

I like to pretend Clan tech doesn't exist.

Well I'm just thinking, you have all these long range weapons, why would you not hold your dakka button down, and shoot the ER LLs. Even if not at exactly the same time, you are going to be hitting the threshold in like 5-6 seconds, without the LRMs probably.

As a supplementary statement, AC2s are too f'n hot in this game!!

It looks ok.

It would have looked a lot better if it had the tall LRM launchers of the original. But then PGI would need to figure out how to make separate hitboxes and component destruction for LRM launchers on the Mauler and Timber Wolf.

Which would have been a good thing.

Bro, do you even TT?

That would just be another thing to add to the "Is this really a Mechwarrior Game?" thread, for the TT buffs would point out that PGI ruined the game by adding those extra hit boxes and how that makes it not Mechwarrior.

Just sayin..

and weigh to much for the dmg they do...was fine in lore and TT but here is just doesn't work. I think the heat should be cut by 1.3 and the weight by half....might make mechs like the Ballistc PNT and the MLX more worthwhile....slightly.

But i agree the Mauler is gross....just ew. I am real glad i only bought up to the Crab's on that pack.

Well, they could have had the Catapult K2 laser arms. A large round lenses, but the arms would be stubby.

Yea, dynamic hard points wins the day I suppose.

I disagree, I think its going to look cool without all those lurms and I am glad we are going to have it in the game.

It would have been tricky. But killing Timber Wolves with LRM launchers is just so ridiculously easy, so nobody uses them. I expect the same will be true for the Mauler.

I would enjoy seeing a pic of one minus ALL THE MISSILES!

Overall I still think it looks good.

However, it looks like a 70+ page thread needs to be created about the square peg Mauler arms I suppose :).

Might be early enough to actually change it...maybe.

Yeah I am not saying I really agree one way or the other, I haven't thought about it enough, I am just saying this wonderful community would come out with some BS about not being battletech and blah blah, just like everything that is done for gameplay that doesn't resemble TT Battletech always gets flak for the state of the game right now.

When does it come out for c-bills? What's the normal timespan? (After initial release)

2-3 months? I forgot.

Funny thing: PGI forgot to release Atlas S for c-bills in the past untill i notified them. Ouch...

But as far for the Mauler: i'm highly interested..

Indeed, they did it right on the Orion's arms so why not here :(

Did they have to alter this mech to bypass the harmony gold issue? It doesn't look like I remember it.

Its legs look so short. I am looking forward to this mech (on paper), but I feel it's got to be one of the ugliest mechs I've seen in a while.
