Enforcers - Good Or Bad?

Ive recently returned from a break and have been running my Enforcers (from the Resistance Pack?)
Ive been levelling them from scratch and I think they're running mostly standard with minor changes to max out their armour. So I have AC10 and lasers, LBX10 and lasers and one with 2xu?AC5s.
Im getting to completing all the basic teirs butIm embarassed to say Ive pretty much been carried their by the Public queue (Im not in a group). I think Ive only made 150 dmg once with the majority being 100.
I know the basics of MWO -
Dont lead the charge
Work the flanks
Stay with the group
Use cover
and so forth....
My pings are 35 Euro and 98 USA, (I dont use Oceanic) so its not lag and my frame rates are good.
I am of course out of practice being newly returned (I took a break around the time VoIP arrived) but it just feels like my Enforcers are made of cardboard and armed with peashooters that are using mushy pea ammo.
Im hoping that perhaps the Enforcer is an underwhelming chassis so at least I have something else to blame alongside my own lack of skill.
On a side note, Im not doing so great with the rest of my IS stable either, but not so bad as my Enforcers.

Enforcer 4-R is solid, best of the bunch, great energy quirks for laser ranger, or for AC-10.
Enforcer 4-P havn't tried yet, supposed to be like Space-poor version of the Centurion-Yen-lo-Wang with AC-20
Enforcer 5-P setup for dual UAC-5, never had much luck with it, 1 trick pony, Both your weapons are in easy to knockout arms, and if you jam ever, you're in trouble.
Enforcer 5-D setup for LB-10x, Lb10 is crap, and it doesn't have enough quirks to make lasers or other ballistics useful, Centurion-D will do this one's job much better.

Like piloting mediums pick your direct fights. Flank large targets, soften up from range if possible, move with your lance.

I know nothing about the 4P, I am curious if the Enforcer-Wang outdoes the Cent-AH in close range combat.

I think they are pretty decent.
The dual UA/C5 Enforcer never really worked for me. The damage potential seems too low to put up with the ultra jamming mechanic (even with the jam reduction). If the ultras were high mount, i might be able to over look it, but as it stands, I never got the hang of it.
The 4R is ok as a min/max type of setup. Run a large STD engine and 5 MPLasers and you can do some damage. You could probably mix it up too with a combo of LLasers and MLasers. If it fits your style, you could still run it with an XL and and A/C10 with 5 MLasers. I'd say the 4R is flexible. If you haven't tried an all energy build and you think you could like it, try it.

The Resistance variant can be run with an LBX10 (I'd run it with a cooldown module if you do) and 3 MPLasers or MLasers. I am experimenting with a build similar to the one below now (since I have speed tweak).

Still, consider running it with an A/C10 instead (especially since A/C10s carry more ammo now and anextra ton can go towards upgrading the gun.
Overall I think they are good solid mechs. True they aren't a Storm Crow, but it is questionable if the Storm Crow should be a Storm Crow (or if other mediums shouldn't perform similar to it). That's a whole different debate though.
I like the Enforcer. I'd say stay with it and experiment a bit at least till you hit 2x basics. If it still doesn't work, maybe it just isn't your thing *shrug*

If you are not sure go with this build, decent damage and very cool. Remember you always hit and hide with mediums. Never be in a position where enemy will hit you free. And always try to exchange blows in your favor.
Alternatively you can use 2LL+3ML, which will let you drop XL for standard but i find their duration too high.

This is a hot mech but packs a ton of punch,

I think I recently dropped the engine a bit since I JUST earned Speed Tweak. Used the tonnage savings for extra DHS. I still run in the mid 90kph range with it if I recall. Something like below, but I think the armor is a bit better, so I might have shuffled some things.

I find that true with most humanoid mechs. the taller it is, the slower it feels (POV being farther from the ground I suppose). The grasshopper can do almost 90 and it feels like it is doing 70.

Enforcers are bad news Mechs. I love mine! Check out this match:
That's nine kills and 1,309 damage in an Enforcer. At about the six or seven minute mark, it came down to me versus four Clanners. I killed them all to win the game. Anytime someone tries to tell you that the Enforcer is "underwhelming," you just show 'em that vid right there.
Personally, it's one of my favorite Mechs in the game!

4P: With the AC20 and complement of lasers, it's feels like a mix between the Hunchback 4G and Yen-Lo-Wang in terms of speed, firepower, and tankiness. Solid, if someone limited in range.
4R: Relatively slow, but with 5 one-sided energy hardpoints, allowing you to maximize your firepower. 5 medium wubs works well for me.
5D: Probably my least favorite. Limited energy hardpoints and meh ballistics means I only mount 3 large lasers or 1 medium+2 large pulse lasers.
5P: One trick pony indeed; dual ultra AC5 is the only way to go. Fortunately it's has a jam reduction quirk, so with a little trigger discipline you can put out a tremendous amount of damage while maintaining respectable speed and maneuverability.

Gonna have to disagree with this. I've had pretty good results with 2xAC5 (not ultra), 2xMG, and 1xML. It's a decent up-close dog-fighter and can snipe in a pinch. The UAC5 quirks are a trap, ignore them.

i guess its a matter of preferance, but i love speed on mechs that can carry ac20. I'd go 120 kph if i could carry good enough ammo/armor and secondary weapons along with that ac20. That kind of speed+firepower+armor makes a very dangerous flanker. Usually only lights get to do it.

Hey, I'm with you. I love that 116kph Vindicator 1AA or even my 97kph Jester. I'm all about the speed .
Where the problem always comes in is...do I have enough cooling efficiency to sustain fire? Like you said, it is hot at 105kph. It's fast, but it is hot. I personally feel with the Enforcer that it's hitboxes and durability means I feel a bit more comfortable shaving off some speed for a more sustainable fire rate.
It is preference though, and if you liked running a more hit-and-fade build, hotter might not be as much of an issue if you can fade and allow some cool time.
Only real bummer is 105kph still can't get you away from a Stormcrow or the weapon's reach of a 90kph Timber Wolf, so unless I could break into the 110+ range and still fire an A/C20 and back up weapons, and still stay cool-ish, I don't think I'd gamble it.
Again, preference, but that's just my reasoning.
