No Cave In New Forest Colony?

I ran around on testing grounds for a good half hour in my Death Snail and didn't see any signs of the cave still being in the map.

Did I somehow manage to miss it or did we just lose one of the coolest parts of that map?


I do think the map is awesome though, other than the weird snail bushes that are scattered around and stand out like a sore thumb. Proper mechwarrior'ing size with a lot of different approaches, nooks and crannies.

Really missing the cave.

Old forest colony wasn't very good, and this one is certainly better. I still would like it to have a cave since I am a caveman.

I was expecting to run right into a cave every time I came around on of the mountain corners or those giant rock plateaus, really disappointed that there's no cave fighting.

I really enjoyed the old forest colony when the matches were 8v8. Was just barely big enough and created a lot of hectic matches.

Not missing it at all. The entire cave side of the old forest colony would never be used against people that knew what they where doing.
It was a funnel and in consequence, a death trap.

It was also hard to see anything in there no matter what vision mode you used.

With all the troubles that space warps like the Tunnel on Forrest, Crimson and Frozen city have.. flickering, wierd lighting, invisible mechs, its probably better that the tunnel is gone.

Maps without them probably get better performance as well.

It's not that the cave was so interesting on the old map. It was usually a deathtrap. But the sad part is that they could have made a cave work on the new map, because there would potentially have been space to move around on both sides, or even over the cave. Cave on old Forest colony and tunnel on Frozen Colony suck because they're too long and isolated. By contrast, the tunnel on Crimson Strait offers a lot of great opportunities, because it's in the middle of the map.

im glad to see the cave gone, it didnt really add anything beneficial to the map

I do however hope they keep the cave in frozen city and expand it out to be a large multi-level cave system

Never used it but did find waiting at the exit good for get kills :)

Would like to see a caven map though.

The tops of some of the high cliffs have some lovely invisible fences. Tried to jump over some in my Jenner and just slid along ..... some sort of invisible force field. Given these were located in the middle of the playable area, I'm not sure why there is a inviso-barrier at the top...

That is not a cave in Frozen Colony. It is open to the sky waaay up there. A technicality I suppose as it plays like a cave..

No cave, but there is a drop ship just suspended in the sky over the water...

They could've expanded the cave to be more like a cavern. Made it big enough for about 3 - 4 mechs to fight in. I'd actually like to see a 2 tiered map that's got a huge cavern underneath. Kinda sorta like HPG but with a much larger underground.
