Yeah, don't like this change at all.

Has anyone heard if this was intentional? I just assumed it was a case of fix one thing, break another.

Why are you posting this here instead of the Patch Feedback forum?

Actually, although there is that big "Invalid" tag no longer, you can still see that blinking red "Invalid" warning sign (exclamation mark in the triangle) under the 'Mech's designation.

Sure. I know. But I shouldn't have to load the mech to know it's invalid.

I don't normally post on hereabout features, as generally I think PGI do a good job of rolling stuff out over time.
However, this change is incredibly annoying - I usually keep my IS 'Mechs built-up but without Engines in, to economise and share the most expensive component parts (especially XLs). I can therefore easily spot the 'Mechs I'm working on or using for CW by the fact they are the valid, an by extension easily figure out where my Modules will be. I now can't do that.
What's more irritating is that the people who own the most 'Mechs (and thus have the greatest difficulty sorting / keeping track of things) are likely to be those contributing to the game. As such I really hope that the los of the 'Invalid' tag is temporary, and that it will be reinstated in the next patch.

It's a known issue.

The Select 'Mech screen does not display the Invalid banner for Invalid 'Mechs
This will be resolved in the next patch.
