Totem BattleMechs represent a Clan or faction's spirit, concept or totem-animal on which they were founded. More common among the Clans, particularly after Operation Revival and in the later days of the Dark Age, these BattleMech designs often devote more resources to aesthetic "frills" than many others; These "frills" are often anthropomorphic or zoomorphic in appearance.

The bolded parts pretty much describe what I'm trying to say: Mechs, that are not necessarily the most effective killing machines, but which you devote a lot of attention or emotion to. You could also say that they embody your preferred play style. I'd say that these two 'Mechs are my "totem":

Highlander HGN-732 (1x Gauss, 3x LPL, XL325, 3x JJs):

This custom ancient BattleMech and her pilot guards the HPG installation on Terra. Don't think that her lack of short ranged weaponry makes her less dangerous from near because she will jump and land on your head when you try to get close!

Cockpit items: ComStar Warhorn and Cameron Star hanging item.

Spoiler

Executioner EXE-PRIME (1x cGauss, 1x cLPL, 4x cERML):

Clan Ghost Bear technicians modified the standard variant to carry more firepower at the cost of weapon reach. So far, this OmniMech proves to be satisfactory.

Cockpit items: Clan Ghost Bear Warhorn and Clan Ghost Bear Medallion.

Spoiler

Bah, another boring and easy-mode Gausvomit you say? Well, yes but what I'm trying to say that these two represent what I like from a Mech: one which has multitude of options, is tactically flexible, somewhat unique, and more importantly: looks good! They also play similarly: their mobility makes me able to flank the enemies and reach unexpected places where I can take potshots at the red doritos without them immediately knowing. I try to stay far from the enemies and only engage one when I have the advantage (not that hard to do being an Assault!). They gave me a lot of fun and the occasional multiple kills 1k+ damage matches!

So, what are yours? Please tell/show us! :)

I'm always ambivalent with these kind of 'Mechs because they are highly stylized (which ironically is the point of totem 'Mechs) and look kind of out of place....

I'd say that SCRs look seek and mean rather than cute. Baby Whale (Adder) on the other hand...

For me it's always been the HBK-4G and the HGN-732 and Summoner and Hellbringer on Clan side.

Although I consider a medium mech guy, but the Awesome will be my totem mech.
2x PPC and 5x MPL for mid range and up close engagement.

LRMs are just bad.
I take out the other 2 for fun every blue moon, they may be outdated but still fun, although it's sad that Dires run away from my K2 ;)
