I never got all that "laser vomit" whining.
Lasers as they are in BT are THE standard weapon.
Tiny, no ammo, no explosion danger, good damage, good range, instant hit, reactors have 10 HS by default, HS have synergy effects for other weapons.
Of COURSE you'll see lots of lasers.

Lasers are for newbs! Personally love a fast firing YLW AC20 where you can shoot off 3 rounds before any clan mech goes thru a laser hitscan and full recharge.....by that time they are usually dead! And in the meantime torso twist to armsoak 80% of their damage. Just make sure you are so close they can't point down fast enough to leg hah.

Actually I love the so called meta mechs cuz they always have a serious weakness to be exploited aggressively.

Also loving the new PSR MM everyone knows what they're doing.....not too many stomps even tho with equal PSRs there'll be more stomps as there are less noobs to easily rake and snowball. So far I'm like 12-1 in my Centurions cuz I don't have to carry as hard......looking like I'm in t2 solely cuz as a medium-only pilot I don't put out top spray damage even though I'm good for 1-3 kills even running uphill.

Those complaining about snowballs are people so bad at aiming they spray damage everywhere and can't kill anyone solo so the guy they were fighting is free to kill your next teammate.

Played a dozen or so games yesterday, most were actual fights with only one or two stomps. I have found my peers. I have an assault Spider.......

Everyone is missing this -

the matchmaker isn't tighter, it is loser. Only tier 1 doesn't play with tier 5 or 4. Everyone else still plays in the same pile. If you're not tier 5 (worse than the average new player) you still play with/against tier 1 as often as ever. More so as now their bucket of available teammates no longer includes rank 4/5.

if you're not absolutely terribad, as in being in danger of choking on your own tongue or running stock builds with a joystick you are MORE likely to play against higher tier players and more of them than before.

What is hilarious to me is that the biggest impact fit most of us will be broadening the width of what used to be called Elo Hell.

Stack that with all the rewards being based on killstealling and lrms and other high point low value builds and you've got a system designed to create rage.

The new system is more of a Tear ranking than a Tier ranking. Only big benefit is that if I run a srms splat Wolf or some other stupid average damage build for a while I won't have to drop with the underhive. Worth the grind imo.

Hmm, my experience hasn't yet born this out.

I admit that it's very early yet, so I'm willing to wait and see.

At least for me, last night, it was mostly 'good' matches. Most of the matches I played were of the 6v12 or closer variety... I did still see a few stomps, but not like the previous night(s), I am certain of that...

2 matches out of 10 I win a close one.

Well ignoring the natural instinct to zing you, perhaps you're in a higher Tier than you thought and therefore the matches are actually harder?
