How dare you make such slanderous claim? My Wubmaster uses two weapon groups!

What I want to know is why did PGI think 6 are enough?

yeah, I have worried that would be the case. Higher than I'm interested in playing. So, base rush 100% of the time, and get that PRS lower till the matches are fun again and not populated totally with tryhards out seal clubbing.

I've only played this morning for about 10-15 matches, but I found my teams, and the enemy teams, to be almost all competent players, if not hardcore-tryhards. Most matches were pretty close, and only 1-2 people each team were below 200 match score.
Didn't see many absolutely ******** builds like I used to, and my team always moved, and always moved as a unit, if not two units. Nor was there an entire team (minus a couple) hiding behind one geographical feature until they were steam rolled.
I'm assuming I'm in Tier 3, and it has been an enjoyable time so far.

i had several games with you today with my new account. i heard new accounts are tier 4...

well, to be honest, pgi said there is a leeway of 2 tiers to each side i.e. tier 1 can play vs tier 3 (but not vs tier 4), and therefore tier 3 can play vs tier 1... so tier 2 should be able to play vs tier 4

Yep,
I reached a tier where all I see are metamechs and people running around with massive alphas. A lot of Clan mechs as well...

Was trying to Master a less common mech last night and it was not fun. I am assuming I am around tier 2.

I think I will continue trying to Master my less capable mechs and tank myself to a level where gameplay is much more fun rather than competitive.

Cheers

Everyone is missing this -

the matchmaker isn't tighter, it is loser. Only tier 1 doesn't play with tier 5 or 4. Everyone else still plays in the same pile. If you're not tier 5 (worse than the average new player) you still play with/against tier 1 as often as ever. More so as now their bucket of available teammates no longer includes rank 4/5.

if you're not absolutely terribad, as in being in danger of choking on your own tongue or running stock builds with a joystick you are MORE likely to play against higher tier players and more of them than before.

What is hilarious to me is that the biggest impact fit most of us will be broadening the width of what used to be called Elo Hell.

Stack that with all the rewards being based on killstealling and lrms and other high point low value builds and you've got a system designed to create rage.

The new system is more of a Tear ranking than a Tier ranking. Only big benefit is that if I run a srms splat Wolf or some other stupid average damage build for a while I won't have to drop with the underhive. Worth the grind imo.

I play with a joystick...oh wait, wrong forum thread....

Why get stuck when you can take a dive ... and do it in style? ;)

+1000 to bold. The rest doesn't even bother me. All I gleaned from this update is the fact that teams are now horizontally matched as opposed to the stupid average team rating crap we had in ELO where a tier 1 was balanced by 3 tier 5s and called even.

I'm actually playing things that aren't urbanmechs and mech pack mechs with no basics in the public queue again. Gotta grind myself outta tier 5 underhive. Course this means a bunch of games like this in the meantime...

All I know is I'm not tier 1 because I still see trial mechs.

Kill, w/l and the other stuff are not worth what they used to be it seems. I am not 100% sure on that but i have been running light mechs and only getting about 200-400 dmg a game but getting 250-300 match scores. On par with the Assault and heavies who are getting 4 kills and dishing out 850 dmg with a few assists.

I suspect it's not so much that kills etc have been devalued but they've boosted a bunch of other things.
