I played it after it got a rave review in a local magazine. It's actually what introduced me to mechs, only got the boxed set after playing that game.

You can play it, but it's complicated...

I do like the mentions of Xenogears, Front Mission 4 and Armored Core V.
I didn't really like Shogo.
Mechwarrior 4 Mercenaries was certainly the high point for Mechwarrior games.
I never heard of Strike Suit Zero until now. I am going to check more of that later.
Makers of Xenogears have gone on to make the Xenosaga trilogy, then the Xenoblade Chronicles for the Wii U. Next Xenoblade Chronicles will feature mechs --- its like a full circle to Xenogears. Xenoblade Chronicles X reminds me of Phantasy Star Online meets Lost Planet meets more mechs.

You want to know a game they missed.
Star Siege. I loved the hell out of that game.
...and this:

Metal Wolf Chaos.
The US President hides his personal Armored Core underneath the White House, called Metal Wolf. Heinous forces has taken over America, led by the evil Vice President. Only the US President and Metal Wolf can stop him and restore freedom and democracy back to the Red, White and Blue.
(As usual with any From Software game and typical of their Armored Core franchise, this game certainly has an awesome sound track).

The list on the whole is terrible, Mech Assault? Titanfall? Bunch of crappy arena like mech fighting games? And only one MW game on the list, and it wasn't mech 3.

I know, we like to complain on the forums that MWO sucks, but MECHASSAULT? SERIOUSLY?

You can't leave out Mechcommander and Mission Force Cyberstorm for tactics and strategy.
Of all the numerous mechs games I have ever played since Crescent Hawks Inception to MWO, this game for me stands out as the very best, because it got so many things right: role warfare, urban warfare, community warfare, map design, weapons effects, control smoothness, pace, strategy, support for squads, creation and configuring of mechs...

Yeah I'm completely baffled by them even including MechAssault. I always thought it was the absolute weakest of the BT based mech games.

Hawken somehow made it? Pretty much killed any credibility for me.
(Plus Mechassault? Not horrible, but top 10 mech game? NO)
At least they gave Slave Zero an honorable mention. That was a great game.
Steel Battalion was hands down the best gameplay
MW2 Mercs best campaign/Story
Heavy Gear2 was great
Slave Zero (loved the controlability and the story)
Robotech Battlecry should make any top 10 list
Titanfall is twitchier than I prefer but bloody well done
MW4 (especially Mercs, but Vengeance was a good campaign) was not a terribly accurate MW title but it WAS a very good game
MechCommander should have been on before most of their list
Armored Troopers VOTOMS for PS2 was stinking good
As was the old Sega Genesis/SNES Mechwarrior 3050
I'd list MW2 GB Legacy, but Mercs already is the epitome of the MW2 platform
Anyhow, just my 2ct on Mech titles that SHOULD have been listed.
