I've been saying for ages that they need to sell custom geometry. It would rake in a ton of money, most likely (unless they priced themselves out of selling anything, like they have tended to do with all the other things).

So yes, Dennis. Hell yes. Do it, slap a (reasonable) price tag on it, and watch the money roll in.

There's so much monetization potential here, that they desperately need to tap.


Then, ideally, they could think about reducing prices elsewhere.

Dennis DeKoning says custom geometry is totally doable, but the feedback from the loyalty mechs was cooler than he expected, so he didn't go forward with it.

Dennis, if you're reading this: We desperately want custom geometry for our mechs.

For those of you who can't see the video right now:

• It would be "totally doable" to have 10 different heads for the Atlas, in theory.
  
• It's mostly a matter of special details, like cockpits, shields, claws, spikes or other small components.
  
• You would not get a custom geometry arm or leg, because that would totally mess up the camo patterns, texture and weapon hardpoints, and the file sizes would go through the roof.

Here's what I need:


Anyone who would be willing to buy custom geometry for their mechs, post in this thread and make it public! Show Dennis that we want it! And tell him / us what kind of stuff you'd be willing to pay for. I need this thread to be 100 pages long by tomorrow, so get to work.

Some ideas for custom geometry:

• Custom cockpits for every mech. Seriously. Every mech with a head, like the Atlas, Centurion, Firestarter, Commando, Gargoyle, Executioner or Mist Lynx, give it a custom geometry cockpit.
  
  
  And for God's sake, an Atlas custom geometry cockpit with GLOWING EYES!
  And imagine how many people would buy a Battlemaster domed cockpit.
  
• Take inspiration from modern tanks. Aerial antennae, attached field repair kits, chains, search lights, duffel bags, etc. I guess actual camo nets would be too much, but could you imagine how cool mechs would look with camo nets?
  
• Wings for the Zeus?
  
• Different arm / shoulder shields for the Black Knight, Centurion, Executioner, Griffin, etc.
  
• I know I said no weapon changes, but... maybe an exception for the Mad Dog lasers? Nostalgia level over 9000. If the Mauler and Orion have laser barrels, y no Mad Dog?

Anyway, like I said. Please reply and state your desire. We need to make this happen!

More options are always good IMO. I recall seeing some kurita pilots that wanted those like big banner/flag dealies mounted on their mechs. That would be cool to see in game.

I think faction specific stuff would be cool. Viking horns on heads for FRR, Samurai looking heads on kurita mechs, bird beaks on those purple guys? Sorry, I'm not super creative lol.

I would love for them to add custom geometry, mech heads, small items, cockpits, fins for my Zeus, claws and whatever for the YLW. It would make each mech I own my own Hero mech...without the extra c-bill bonus.

Huzah! Plus 1 here! I actually made a thread about customization, including geometry (link in my SIG.) I'm really glad to see at least one of the ideas get some traction.

The amount I'd be willing to pay would be very dependent on how big &/or detailed the customized part is. I think I'd be willing to pay about 500 to 1000 MC, maybe more if it's really big and awesome.

Count me in on the extra or special geometry for mechs... I know in the video he stated he didn't really get the "feedback" he expected, however I would assume a lot of people are kind of like me. I rarely get on the forums unless I'm looking for something or during down times. So I missed it all together... lol...

Wow. The earliest I can think of this being brought up is back in 2012… not sure if someone else did before, but man. 3 years later they’re finally considering it… This feature has always been very popular; any time it’s brought up anywhere on here, people have loved it.

Oh well. Better late than never I guess!

Hand options: Mangled, skeleton, open, closed, clamp style, claw, spike
Side-Jointed Legs: for all chicken walker Mechs
Humanoid Knee pads: for all humanoid Mechs
Ankle covers: All mechs

Give check box to allow Primary, Secondary, or Tertiary colours to apply to customer geometry.

I dunno, the possibilities are endless really. They’ve proven this with the special geometry for a lot of mechs.
