whats that ugly green on the main window? moss? algea? did my mechtechs not cleaned the window for 3 month? Clancockpits are red tinted not even green. it looks horrible. The sidewindows have basically just a fixed pattern slapped on making it look dirty, but light has no effect anymore on the cockpit :/

The old one had scratches and showed some rain and reflections when sun was shining at it.
It looked so much better:

Cockpit glass is a complete headache. Go into your video options and shut it off.

It's actually in the game options, not the video options.

I like cockpit glass on, at least for the sake of immersion  It doesn't affect FPS too badly, IMO.

Edit: Tried the game without cockpit glass again, and I'm liking it.

Simply put this kind of Cockpit Glass away and instead give us Cockpit Glass Damage Visuals like in Elite Dangerous.

Thank you thank you, the new cockpit glass is really ugly, it feels like I accidentally left a magnet by my CRT screen and it's f**king with the color.

Old cockpit glass was MILES better

the current cockpit glass does not add many immersion to me, because its static and weird. the green tint does not even block light effects (start viridian bog and look to the suns direction).
The old one was delivering good immersion, hell sometimes when light fell bad it was hard to see stuff. But the current. meh

Agreed.

As I said in the previous topic, most of the time the new glass just looks like someone stuck a graduated tint film on my cockpit windows, like it was some naff modified car from the 70s. I turned it off in the options, but I'd rather have the old glass back on.

Honestly I have cockpit glass turned off in my user.cfg, but I can't even see it in your screenshots. What are you even talking about? 0_o

either look closer, or get a proper Screen because your colors may be so off that you can't see it.

Definitely.
The new one is absolutely hideous.

At least allow us to choose which one we want to use. The old one was so much better.

I would use Cockpit Glass if it was anything like it was originally advertised as: With actual effects to it, not just a static, scratchy texture.

link 2 too much mechpr0n

that would of course be the bets of all. even MW3 had it, and i was always happy when I got hits on my cockpit for cool visuals.

I personally like the new cockpit glass, I kinda thing the scratches and such should come in as you get damaged around the head and also the effect on the side glass should be lowered a little bit but on most mechs I like it... oh and clans need it to tint red.

I tried playing the game with cockpit glass off and it was quite nice! :o It took some getting used to at first, but I'm starting to like it a bit better. It does give a bit of an FPS boost in certain situations, even if it isn't a substantial one.

I had started a thread on the cockpit glass during the previous patch.

I don't think cockpit glass is where it needs to be yet, but it's better than I initially gave it credit for.

Try the same mech with cockpit glass enabled on a bright map, then on a dark map. There is still a subtle glare effect on the glass, you just don't notice it on the brighter maps. When everything is darker, you can see there is a shimmer on the glass that moves as you move your mouse around.

On some maps it seems like there is a bit of condensation on my Cheetah's canopy, I don't always notice it but it seems to show up on the wet maps. Maybe the water % stat on the map info page actually does something? :D The recent dev vlog mentions getting rain to appear on the canopies as part of a future weather update, so getting dust, frost or rain interacting with the canopy would be cool.

My main request with the cockpit glass feature is that it is pretty equal from one chassis to the next, and that it doesn't limit visibility much. Right now some mechs have way too much green tint (bubble canopies get it around the edges, and mechs with flat panels and seams can get it on the side panels pretty bad). I know there is real world precedent for this, look at thick glass from an extreme angle (thick aquarium glass shows it well) and the color often shifts into green, but IMO it's too distracting here.

Play for a while with your default zoom (0.86x in my case) then zoom in to hit a target and the screen looks pink from the negative after-image of the green tint. Looks bizarre when Alpine turns into a bubble gum colored mountain. Almost expect Katy Perry to walk out and start shooting SRMs out of her bra or something ;)

I like the idea of cockpit glass. I'm willing to take a slight performance hit and/or reduce visibility by a small margin to increase immersion, but this is just a bit too strong and switching it on/off for certain maps or mechs annihilates immersion.
