The count is total davions in the match for tier calculation purposes.


To predict your chances of winning... subtract all davions from both teams at the beginning of the match.


Example: Team A has 2 davions Team B has 5 davions

Team A now has 10 players
Team B now has 7 players

player advantage calculation below: add this number to 50%

1 = 7%
2 = 16%
3 = 31%
4 = 47%
5 = it's over

So, in the above example Team A has a 3 player advantage which gives us 31% + 50% = 81% chance of victory for team A

or another way to put it is there is only a 19% chance of victory for Team B

From the Patchnotes we only know that Tier 1 Players do not match up with Tier 4/Tier 5 Players.
That leaves speculations open if Tier 2 Players could get into a match with Tier 5 Players...have PGI stated anything official about the Tier X matchmaking ranges?

The accurate way to calculate tier is to count how many times you've said or quoted Davion. I can help with the math if you ask nicely. And if you compliment my hair sufficiently.

I thought about that but could not account for the potential "future davion" pilots among the factionless.

This unknown variable can throw a monkey wrench into the calculations.

This makes the five tiers effectively into three:

1: Tier 1, matched against Tier 1, 2, and 3

3: Tiers 4 and 5, matched against Tier 2, 3, 4, and 5

So yes, if you're in tier 2 or 3, you may get matched against tier 1 players in one match and tier 5 players in another.
