I hope there will be the steam release asap, because with the new psr system, we need more players per tier, we need numbers.

I know there will be a tier 4 invasion, but in a while players who are interested in the game will learn and improve, and tiers will fatten.

I have no issues during EU or NA primetime playing in solo que, so prolly my tier is beefed up during those hours.
But during Oceanic prime time, this is what happens:

For those one wondering, this's not been a balls deep "stomp". In a minutes the 2 teams have reached the classic 2 hills, and stopped there playing peek and poke for 5 long minutes.
I saw people shooting with mpl a targets at 400-500 m.
People shooting at trees or rocks, without seeing that its own hardpoints were too low.
Two heroes charging all alone.

When valves get released, these matches remind me the infamous old elo MM.

I know that with fix valves it would take forever to get a match ....but after a couple of matches like that above, I quitted MWO. So, I think it's even worse.

New player experience is still terrible. Somebody has to tell them greyed out means out of range and non grey is within range.

I always get some eye disease when i see someone shooting LL at 1000 metres or MGs far beyond 120 metres.

I get it when you accidentally slam the wrong button.. But it more common then it should be.

They only have 1 chance at this and I'd rather they only do it when they are ready.

Drives me nuts as well. I think PGI is capable of putting together a better tutorial for those not familiar with Battletech/Mechwarrior. Given the IP itself never got the attention that something like D&D or Magic: The Gathering, it's not surprising that there's so many that don't grasp it so easily.

Occasionally I'll fire off beam weapons in the enemy's direction to point out to my team of pugs that the enemies are over there. Nothing gets those guys moving like a chance at a kill steal.

They are already working on a new Tutorial that'll not play as a "hello stupid, press this dummy and it'll make you go forward!" but instead "greetings cadet, the inner sphere needs mercanaries more then ever due to the heavy invasion in the Coreward regions of the Draconis Combine and Stiener and the FRR are caught right in the fire so this is where new cadets like you come in. Lets start by powering up your mech and give it a test run using the [bla bla bla controls, to 'test' out your emch before you practice weapon fire and more complicated manurers] ..."

That's just a guesstimation on what it may be. We do know more advance ai's will be introduced and the tutorial will be our 'demo' into the single player content that will come in the future or PvE.

do you think this is truly a PSR issue? what it the tiers of all were equally?
You see a lot less metamechs in your team, but many in the opps one. So even if all people are the same tier, when the slightly inferior mechs randomly get thrown together it does have quite some impact.

2 lances of the opp tema were entirely maximised bulds by chassis choose, while you had only a few.

Lets be honest, until we know our Tiers its hard to tell, but when I imagine the system would put me T2, It's problematic. Not because I can not epeen stroke superhard, Because it means that I can meet T4, and T4 is told to be new players. And when I get matches vs new palyers, this won't be any kind of fun for them. even if I do not play "hard mode"
it would probably be better to put newbies in T5 and restrict T2 meeting T5 or restricting T2 to meet T4 as well.

Steamtards will all stay tier 4-5. Those that care to learn will rise to the appropriate level. The important thing is the tards will stay at tier 4-5 where they can feel special, and think themselves leet.

Insulating the rest of us from people blocking firing lines, shooting us in the back etc.

You have a good point.
I thought about "valves released" because I waited 8-10 minutes, so I think there weren't enough players of my tier (whatever it is. Surely not tier 1).
But maybe we are talking about the same issue

I don't know how MM is by now, maybe it is working a la CW one: it forms one team, maybe choosing between one tier pool, and then it forms another one, opening valves if there aren't enough players of the same.
And lower tier players bring no meta or crap mechs, and haven't passed a tutorial too.
This MM would be pure crap, since it would be utterly unbalanced (see the above pic)

Given the sig, I'd prejudge your tier to be no lower than high 3, and more likely 2.

Naaa, I like to run locust and commando too.
My match score depends if dropping serious or trolling around in sigle que.

So I really have no idea about how pgi decided to label me :)

(I can also say that inside MS you can find tier 1 tryhards, and tier 5 too!)

where are you from? US/EU? what dayteime was it you playe,d and what modes have you enabled?

the current challange is really makign MM a bit worse because many many people going for specific servers and specific modes. this clusters them into too many niche subques that then wait for people to fill them.

I had liek 9 games yesterday only EU server enabled and all modes enabled, yet not a single skirmish. it was nearly only assault with maybe 3 games conquest.

MM time should get better when the event is over.

I'm from EU, but during morning, that is Oceanic primetime, it is nearly impossible to get a good match. (this isn't a rant against oceanic players, of course; I have EU and NA server enabled, all game mode)
Since my NA teamates are sleeping, and EU ones are working or on holiday, I cannot drop in my usual group, and dropping solo it is a nightmare, due to too few players I think.
During afternoon and evening it's all ok, solo matches are good.
