I haven't played the game for about a year, but I came back today to play a few matches. I got into my AWS-9M which has 3 PPCs and some ML and decided to have some fun. I enjoy the mech because it gets kills pretty much every match and I like feeling like I'm helping my team.

I just played a really fun match on Crimson where we got base-rushed and were caught out of position. Most people rushed back to defend, and I managed to get 3 kills and 2 assists trying to get the other team off of our base. Sadly, we lost, but I felt good at the end of the match.

That good feeling died when I saw that I got 85,000 Cbills for my effort. "F*** this," sigh, quit. I want to feel rewarded for my hard work, not punished for not running a hero mech or having premium time.

I'll play a game at the hardcore level if I feel like I'm being rewarded for my effort, but with MWO it always feels like a slap in the face. That's why I quit playing a year ago, and that's why I'm not going to come back now either.

85k c-bills for 3 kills mean you basically stole those kills and weren't 'helping'

Well, the Paulconomy hates some more than others.

It is what it is.

Sorry you feel that way... as I've been saying how bad that Paulconomy is for the longest of time.

Can't blame this guy, Cbill rewards for a loss are horrid even when you yourself did quite well, and most of the time its not much better in a win unless you alone singlehandedly killed every enemy on the op team.

Rewards 2.0 needs some tweaking.

Go play World of Tanks or War Thunder for a few hundred games and then come back here and tell us again how MechWarrior: Online makes you feel sad and unrewarded. The grind here is a breeze compared to those two games.

it was a kit fox with no c-bill bonuses too

EDIT- misunderstood, deleted it before it got quotes out of context--

Game certainly pushes you towards Sub, I mean you can eat up 80k in consumables... or just not use them, IDK.

It was my understanding that this will likely change with the re-balance and role warefare additions. I hate having almost all your earnings tied to kills/assists.

earnings are based on like 80% damage and 20% other things

unless youre doing 500+ damage youre not going to earn very well

how can you ever have role warfare when the only role that matters is damage?

The 9M suffers tremendously under the current meta. Laser vomit eats it alive. Clan lasers are particularly deadly, as the ponderous bulk of the Awesome makes it far easier for the average clanner to concentrate damage on you.

If you're into PPC's, i'd suggest the 8Q and the more vanilla guns (the quirks for normal PPC's are far better than the ER quirks for the 9M). My old setup for the 9M was the same as yours, but I've since switched out the PPC's for LPL's and the difference is like night and day.

The biggest issue with it at the moment is the new PSR rating - which places you and your Awesome in matches with far more lethal machines. I enjoy the Awesome because it feels like an achievement doing well in it - though now the sense of achievement is rarer, and more poignant when it happens - like clearing a level of super meat boy blindfolded.

This is not really accurate. Do 500 damage with 1 kill/assist and see what you earn.

its pretty hard to do 500 damage with only 1 kill/assist, you literally had to be shooting an assault mech in the arms and legs deliberately for that to happen

or your team lost... but if you lose your earnings are always bad. it makes no sense to reward winning more than losing when you have little or no control over whether your team wins or loses. both winning/losing should reward the same base amount of cbills and matchscore should be the only thing that determines income.

someone who does well on the losing team should get just as much as someone who does well on the winning team... its not their fault the rest of their team was bad, they shouldnt be punished for having bads on their team.

Pauleconomy is very similar to the real(haha) in the USA once you factor in Fractional Reserve Banking and all that.

But yeah 80k for 3 kills...you get more for assists and locks and other 'teamwork' actions.

And besides, you said you had fun. Isnt that payment enough?

Get a load of the entitlement on this kid.

"I'm not getting enough pretend money! This game isn't rewarding me!"

You are playing video games wrong.
What, you want someone to pat you on the back for participating well in a match?

I don't play MWO to feel a sense of accomplishment or get rewarded.
I do it to stomp around and kill things. THAT'S the reward.
