rage much?

WOT is something that we have to look at, because it is one of the most popular and successful f2p games out there.
there is no WAY that MWOs devs haven't looked long and hard at WOTs business model.

also, it is a good place to look to for things NOT to do.
we NEED to make those comparisons so we can tell the MWO devs that we do not want "gold only" items which affect gameplay, and a number of other things.

I don't understand how WoT got so popular. Like I mean there are what, 30 other F2P games out there easily, but the only one people talk about here is WoT. I just don't get it.

Instead it was just another complaint about WoT players. Hardly kudos worthy, IMO.

Well. I'm just glad that this game does not resemble WoT in any significant way. Thank God!!!

Here I thought this thread would contain no snobbery. OP you really want to drive people away with your PSA or would you actually like to welcome people that may be playing both games? Everyone with 2 brains cells knows its not WoT with Mechs, we do not need your eloquence to remind us.

World
Of
Tanks

is a Tank based shooter that starts fun, and rapidly reaches the point where you are so heavily punished for not buying currency that
the fun just rolls right out.

Bashing on wot players does not help MWO, in fact i think MWO needs wot players.
MWO needs wots players money to last for years to come.
WoT players just need to learn more about Battletech.
I play wot, have had some contact with Battletech and like it alot, im here to learn.... these days i spend more time reading about Battletech then playing wot. In my opinion, wot players need to be "educated" about Battletech.

Hope to still be sharing the battlefield with you all 10 years from now.

WoT and MWO are the same game with different skins. Replace chassis/turret with legs/torso and you have the exact same thing and I'm not saying that in a derogatory way. I've played every MechWarrior and MechCommander game, I worked in an arcade that had the BattleTech VR pods, I love the MechWarrior franchise. But if you can't see that these two games are very similar (and both will be wildly popular for different reasons) then you need to take a step back and re-examine the game landscape.

The games are similar. But I'm waiting to see if the business models will be similar.

We have assurances from the dev team that MWO will not follow the same business model as WoT (ie no gold ammo, premium-only tanks, etc), but until they actually open the store, we won't know for sure.

What do you think Founder Mechs are? Those are the WoT equivalent to premium tanks and MWO is definitely going to sell premium mechs. I'm okay with gold ammo as long as there's a way to earn it in-game. Right now the only money I spend in WoT is to convert free experience and on occasion buy an interesting premium tank. My gold ammo is bought through my clan who earns gold for holding territories.

Funny. I wasn't aware I could buy a Lowë in WoT with in-game credits...

The Founder's mechs in MWO are just like the base model mechs, except they have an additional bonus to money earned. I can still buy the exact same Jenner, Hunchback, Catapult, and/or Atlas, using in-game money only, just without the bonus attached to them.

In effect, you're paying CASH for an in-game money bonus. NOT for the specific mech.

At least, that's how PGI says it will work. Again, I'm waiting to see if that will actually be the case or not.
