Playing through the recent event I've noticed a trend: Australians like Conquest, Yanks like Skirmish. I'm not sure what this means, but it could be explained by or difference in mindsets when approaching games. Whether that's a good or bad thing I'll leave for other to decide.

I have all game modes ticked, as well as the US and Oceanic Servers.

Interesting... I was noticing some extreme wait times on Oceanic, until I ticked conquest and they became, well, margianally less extreme. I remember deselecting because I thought capture times were absurd, but it seems much quicker now.

I wonder what the reasoning is behind the preference of conquest. Maybe oceanic players like a more tactical experience.

It is fascinating seeing the different playstyles on different servers.

This Australian likes to play all modes and have NA and Oceanic time ticked.

I won't play EU because of their play style. So frustrating to the way I play.

I am in North America and my least favorite game mode is skirmish.

My reasons are pretty simple.

No tactical options,If your team is down 5 mechs you have ZERO options to adopt a new strategy that may win.

Other base factors have a higher impact on who may win.If we go with the assumption that the match maker has successfully match players on skill then factors like clan mechs,ECM and meta builds have a higher impact. The team with fewer of these advantages start with a handicap.

Blue team

Arctic cheeta (ecm)

Firestarter

Stormcrow

Shadowcat (ecm)

Timberwolf
Hellbringer (ecm)
Thunderbolt

Direwolf

Kingcrab

Red team

Locust 1E
Jenner F
Urbanmech (any urbie)

Centurion AL
Griffin 2N (ecm)
Nova

Summoner
Catapult A1 (LRMs)
Grasshopper (any hopper)

Victor 9s
Zeus (any model)
Kingcrab

Assuming equal skill and a skirmish match PLACE YOUR BETS!

As a matter of fact this Aussie does prefer conquest to skirmish, with Assault in second place. I find skirmish as a game mode to just be a waste of time. I prefer games with an objective which is probably why I like CW more than the others.

I haven't even seen an eu match without some 120+ ping, but I understand why you think that you are so special there...

I play all three zones and all match types. It seems to me that I get a lot of "assault" matches on EU servers, "conquest" matches Down Under (*love* playing with the Australians, they're great guys), and "skirmish" and "assault" with North American servers. Interesting how that works out.

He isn't saying he is special or that it's ping related. He's referring to the play style on the EU servers that on the forms has several times been referred to as lets say defensive play rather than aggressive play. Not sure why you are facepalming that...

Maybe I am a defective Yank, but I prefer Conquest and Assault before Skirmish. Having an actual objective other than "Kill 'em all" makes games much more interesting.

never understood why anyone would like Conquest. There are plenty of other games where you can stand on a plot of land to claim it. I prefer fighting.

Because on the eu servers same people play as on us (names and pings wise). I played this game before servers split and don't see ANY difference in play styles now. There is not a single reason why would that be (again, it's mostly the same people that were playing before) but some individual feeling of difference. He's not saying that he's special, he's saying that us servers are special, yet there are same people playing there as before. That's just silly.

Because if you win and drag the game on while riding a hero mech and running premium time, it will pay a lot , in the 350k range if you do well, while lasting about 9 min , wich is very goog per game considering that you spend similar time in search for all modes but this one because of cap point resource bonus X premium+hero bonus makes it the best paying mode , if you win :) often enough.

I will clarify and I am not trying to be insulting to anyone.

I find that gameplay on EU servers tends to be more peek, poke and defensive. I am more the brawler type player. If I am moving forward and bringing the attack to the enemy while the majority of my team are hanging back I will get frustrated. Simple as that.

I don't expect to change the way people play on EU servers (as per my observations) so I choose to untick EU and avoid frustrations.

If you feel insulted over my comments then there is not much I can do about that but there is no reason to behave the way you did.

Anyhow, I am moving on from this and I hope you do to.

Cheers from Australia!
Eboli.

I would say a lot of it has to do with the event right now and will probably balance out roughly afterwards. End of event sees people running the more limited options, especially if they are goofy enough to be going for flags.
