These new maps make it clear, the designers went for 2 things only: pretty and destructible

The layout is absolutely terrible, as if someone designed them who has never played a shooter before.
The new "perks" are a disaster, there is constantly stuff hanging in your face blinding you or junk on the ground getting your mech stuck. Parts of the map even make you bug out when trespassed.

I do agree its hard to see, maybe went a little too hardcore with the new trees and fog effects. The huge amount of ECM definitely doesn't help things either

That's what forests are like....Maybe you should rewatch Return of the Jedi?

I haven't had enough time on the new maps to really debate their layout. I do like that FC is not a flat plain with a few trees though.

I love both new river city and new forest colony. Much better job at making it feel like an actual battlefield.

HUGE step up over the corridor hump fest that they used to be.

I feel that a lot of the map clutter feels a bit... too random. Like there should be clusters of trees spread across the map rather than a general spread, but otherwise I disagree, the map is much better.

The new maps are magnificent when compared to the old ones. I don't know what tactics you were used to on the old maps, but even if the new ones do have similar places people gravitate towards, battles are far less one dimensional than they used to be. It's amazing how many different fighting zones are crammed into the middle squares of each map.

All my fights on the new maps are fluid now - and not daytona fluid like water flushing down a toilet bowl.

Can I please have a straight answer on this: in the new forest colony do the destructible smaller trees block shots of projectiles or not? I kept firing Gauss at someone through them and the Gauss round seems to "explode" when it hits the tree and destroys the tree. This leads me to believe it is not going "THROUGH" it and hitting the enemy but is in fact being blocked by the destructible tree. Is this the case, or is that just an animation showing sparks but the gauss has in fact penetrated the tree and hit the enemy on the other side?

I didn't think they blocked shots at all.

If you're really curious, jump into the training ground and put a tree between you and one of the light mechs.

Or maybe he needs to take a walk in a forest just for once (sounds crazy, I know).

I disagree completely. I think the new Forest Colony is by far the best map in the game at the moment. I've been getting consistent great matches on it.

Video below is just one of many I've had due to the nature of the new map.
