Is it me or does it seem silly that only those who paid top money for the latest two resistance packages get to participate in the goody bag awards? I mean, really? I've purchased other top tier packs as well as individual 'mechs, but no goody bad items for me. :( *sigh*

A long long long time ago I had a Flight Chief in Korea (sliding doors, heated floors slant eyed ****** ;) ), one of the things he would say is..."Life Is Full Of Disappointments. This Is One Of Them. Deal With It.

Oh look....Yet another "event" that excludes CW yet again for a handful of digital trinkets and cbills and rewards mindless, endless marathon pug drops for monetary reward... Gets pretty darn discouraging to see the very people we're waiting on for YEARS to develop a planetary conquest system LITERALLY driving the population away from it every single weekend and even some weeks in between...for what ?? A bobbly hula girl and a flag for my cockpit ?? And if I grind for 3-4 days straight, I could get a few million cbills, even though I'd make 10-20x that grinding up to that point honestly anyway ?? Hoorah. That people continue to flock to that model knowing that still amazes me, but so be it..

I swear, it seems more and more like the dev team is actually intent on driving population away from CW to the point that they don't have to finish it.. and can just keep feeding the churning mass in the public queue with little effort (other than from the art dept releasing gorgeously refurbished maps). and keep selling them mech packages and MC indefinitely. Obviously rushing the clan invasion and making the clan mechs too strong for IS forces to hold back didn't get the point across that they don't really want to manage a star map (they've obviously struggled heavily with that while still not wanting to let factions manage it either)...all that takes away from time that could be spent designing and selling new clan mechs apparently.. so just keep eventing the population to death with cockpit items we can only get in the pug queue until the CW numbers finally fall completely to zero.... Then we can just remove the map and rename the game "World of Clan Mechs" Or "Call of Duty: Clan Mech Ops" or something like that... Brilliant !!

Sorry, but it just seems like PGI has all but completely forsaken CW at this point (and every IS faction while were at it, but that's another story)... Will they ever deliver the planetary conquest game they promised us several years ago now ?? (Will they ever realize how badly they've balanced Clan vs IS tech and/or ever really do anything about it ?) More and more people are starting to think not.. They're telling us they are... but is that just to keep us around and on the hook, buying mechs and MC til they can no longer deny they couldn't do it and the well runs dry ?? I mean we're not as gullible as the star citizen crowd maybe, but we're running a close second at this point I'd say... Especially since we continue to sit around hoping for and forcing ourselves to be ok with vague and random rumor-like tidbits on twitter as a primary means of finding out about ongoing development progress.. All while CW continues to visibly wither on the vine, completely unattended.. Clandemonium is even slowing at this point !!

Will NBT save the unit crowd's sanity for the time being while PGI tries(?) to get their S*** together and actually code and release Phase III (and the rest of the logistics they've already said wont be in Phase III yet )?? Time will tell I guess... At least we'll have some planets with value to fight over for a change while we wait...how many will want to come back to CW if they ever finally do is the big question then ?? There's None of this "20-30 min waits for a drop with a randomized map on a planet you didn't choose against an unknown opponent that possesses mechs you cant ever drive, only to be overwhelmed by sheer unrestricted numbers attacking the planet even if you win your drops anyway" BS in NBT, so it could be interesting to see how that plays out.

[/End Rant]

It is kind of sad from the perspective of someone who has been supporting this game since I first heard about it. How much money have I poured into this thing just to get the same game play for the last few years? I really wish they would make a co-op campaign and a real tactical game that we were promised. I was kind of hoping for at least some kind of fabricated news network footage or something that gave the semblance of a story as CW continued. Something along the lines of "news footage" from either in-game battles or CGI created by and hosted by the devs.

This current behavior on their part I will classify as predatory, I'll get into that more later.

Oh, any mech can get some c-bills. And here I was blowing 4m on a new engine for my Panther which I suck a piloting :(

The Panther is not easy to find a build for, but I've found that a combination of 1 LL, fill the rest of the hard points with SL and then SRM4s in most of my variants gives me a competitive platform at any range and something that is absolutely devastating alternating fire at close range. I hope that helps a bit! Message me if you want more specific info on the builds/strats I've been developing for this unique chassis.

Your color coding doesn't work.
Wave III didn't get an exclusive event fox example, it was open for everyone. The problem is not rewarding people who spent money on this game, the problem is rewarding those who spent money in a very specific way (or are about to spent because they are bribed by the event), while others who spent money in a comparable way (any other pack) don't get rewarded in a compareable way.

If you want to reward people for spending money, you have to reward everyone equally.
Just look at what pheonix owners got with Phoenix rising event. They were able to vote if the pack goes on sale again and got a 5% LP boost cockpit item. Wow. Spectacular. Those Phoenix pack owners cashed in hard for sure.

You can't limit great events to one type of pack owners while making others, who spent just as much money, play for rewards that outright s*ck in their event.

They should just do it like the wave III event. Give everyone the chance to own the gifts, but hand out free ones to pack owners.

Predatory. It is one thing to expect to be fairly compensated for your work as an artist, developer, etc. It is quite another thing to practice predatory marketing strategies to get people to spend lots of $ for minimal work on your end or to try and entice or force them into getting something that is not to their advantage with promised rewards later.

I own both resistance packs and even I think this is silly. Sure reward those who have paid into your game, but don't do so by diminishing the rewards for others. You make valid points and provide ample examples for different ways this could... no, should be handled.

I hope something changes with the mindset of those at PGI soon, or they may find themselves without a consumer base that is willing to compensate them at all. Why buy a pack if you don't know it's viability for future returns and rewards compared to other packs?
Because you like the 'mechs I do protest! True, but I can always wait and get them for C-Bills later... Assuming I'm not time-poor.

Again, whatever other gripes you might have about this event aside, I don't see how it's got anything to do with "pay to win".

GXP, premium time and c-bills aren't pay-to-win. They might be "pay-to-cut-down-the-grind-a-bit", but that's one of standard tenets of F2P monetisation
Cockpit items are pure fluff -- another tenet of F2P monetisation (pay to customise/decorate)
MC is MC, and I guess it's possible that you might get enough to buy a MC-only mech, but I'm not sure any of them are currently considered best-in-class (although some are undeniably good); a quick look at the tier lists on metamechs shows the Misery in tier 3 and Grid Iron and Dragon Slayer. The last couple of grab-bag events didn't get me anywhere near enough MC to buy more than a few mechbays, but YMMV.
Consumables do confer an advantage, but each of the MC consumables has an Cbills-only direct equivalent.

It's not about P2W (they have cheater for that anyway).

It's about showing_me_paywall event with big letters $$$. Guess what I'm going to show PGI in return.

Giving it away for free for everybody would show the people who actually pay for this game (so others can play it completely for free and still demand more free stuff) that it isn't worth paying.

Everybody can play MWO for free. WIth the CB-bonus in this event everybody can buy new Mechs or modules or other equipment they usually have to grind for months for. And the customers that bought the biggest packages get some extra stuff. This is made public for marketing reasons as you can still buy both packs and have 1 week left for preorder bonusses on the second one. How is this unfair? How is this any different from the behaviour of other companies? There were several occassions were PGI gave away free stuff and the oppartunity to earn a shitload of CBills so that every player who hasn't paid a single dime was able to run atleast a full company of 12 Mechs where from the start it was supposed to be only 4 Mechbays and 1 or 2 Mechs after cadet bonus. And free players till feel betrayed just because the people who paid most (regarding the packages in question here) get the oppprtunity to win stuff like free single heat sinks and mg ammo?!?

Not quite as inclusive as the clan wave 3 event, where anyone could qualify for the random prizes (or heat sinks) but you got a few extra for purchasing... But I'll take it! An easy to achieve 10 million c-bills that I can put towards a new mech is a lot better than nothing.

Zeus and Mauler were the only Resistance mechs I liked from these packs, so I'm not gonna worry about spending a pile of $$ to get a couple cockpit items and maybe enough MC for a mech bay.

Fair event.
People who play the game without money get a lot of C-Bills.
People who support the game with money getting goodies and more C-Bills.

I think that's not p2w, it's a nice way to say thank you for the support and playing our game in all cases.

It just needs to include CW fights to be really FAIR event.

Now I'll be forced to those normal fights to get some extra c-bills.

Now's PGI's chance to really fix matchmaking for good. Everyone having trouble getting 150 in most of their matches after the end of the event is instantly downgraded to tier5 and everyone can have decent games. :D

After the next redesign of a map (think it'll be alpine peaks, nobody knows), PGI is going to take some care of the cw.

At first you need a fair and stable framework to carry out significant changes to the cw at all. This includes the right class weighting and the right payout for each role in the game. That's precisely what's happening at the moment. Nobody wants a stupid bam-bam-bam game, so PGI have to change much more like the mechanics, payouts, role-weights and so on.

Please notice: Currently the actual changes are also important for the CW. It's my opinion that this is the preparation for future things on our lovely planets but many people want everything at once - that doesn't work.

This goes out to the crybabies in this forum:

Patience and cooperation is the key to the game what we want and not that bitching and whining all the time.

I'm glad that there is something like this event. I know plenty of other games where players are really punished. This is a reward for playing MWO in all cases.

Nobody is forcing you to buy packs or play this game for real money. Nobody limit your gametime if you do not pay for that game. If you are so unsatisfied with this look-in-the-future-like changes which were requested by this community - i really wonder why you are playing this game.

People wanted more Cbills. PGI gives 10million for free granted you play a minimum of 40 match in 7 days, people are still not happy about how it's done. Take what you're given here, but don't bite the hand while you're feeding. Maybe start by expressing that you like how the better reward make the game more enjoyable and attainable, these could be trials for a new economy.

So it does not favor CW... only a revamp could favor CW. No event week days and CW still isnt worth my time outside the free mechbay, which you should be grateful for or CW would be even more dead..

I don't get why people are upset over the random prizes. Have ANY of the random prizes in the past even been worth the time it takes to click on them?

Upset? No.

But: I bought my Ember solely with MC collected during Haloween & Xmas specials - needless to say those events are/were a great motivation to play for cheapos like me. It was kind of worth it, as you get a target to follow, which in my case is "free" Premium Mechs.

I am so in. Will always take more c-bills.

I don't own any of the Resistance packs but if I get through the initial 10 million and still have time to spare I may consider getting up to the Grasshopper in R1.

Perfect time for the GF to have left town this morning for 10 days.

Oh you have to have resistance mechs for this event. I do not own those so no reward. I started playing because it said any mech but they meant R mechs only.

This event is too much «for donaters only». I say it as an owner of both resistance packages.

Yeah to people complaining about the bonus rewards can cry me a river. We just had a fantastic event in regards to cockpit items and random goodies and this is to make C-bills. If you have too many of those well bully for you as far as I'm concerned.
