Mmm hmmm, it's only fair as the short and mid range brawls go to the IS....

Not really. Laser vomit wins in brawls too.

Yes only its the faster firing, cooler faster recycling IS lasers that win more often there...

If you're getting beat by a clan mech in a brawl, you've been outplayed because you didn't press your advantage correctly.

um no. i use my superior speed to get behind an atlas, shoot it in the back, and its dead in two shots.

if youre having problems brawling with clan mechs youre doing it wrong. you need to use your agility/speed advantage to get behind the hilariously slow IS mechs and shoot them in the back. Or at the very least keep them spinning in circles where they cant hit you with more than arm weapons.

plus theres the fact the IS mechs are usually missing armor and crap before the brawl even starts from being softened up at long range with the clan's superior ranged weaponry. IS mechs are so laughably disadvantaged in the current meta its a wonder anyone still even plays IS.

So let me get this straight, we can't simulate the technology that is readily available today to simulate the same thing in the 31st century? Have you looked at stuff in a FLIR device? I have and it most closely resembles what is seen in the former...

Only if it got nerfed range, the original predator vision was too good there was no reason to not use it 100% of the time.

predator vision would be better than the current thermal.

To balance it perhaps it could become screwed up if your heat reaches a certain percentage.

Oh and perhaps there could be heavily blurred as the mech is heating the air around them

i just want thermo to look like a flir camera.
Then we should be able to invert the colours (B/W, W/B), which would be quite useful.

Bring it back, with nerfed vision range so that it's more or less equivalent to the current grey thermal.

It looked rad as hell I think we all agree to that, but it was OP due to the vision range it gave you.

Reduce the vision range then. Just don't reduce it to point blank like the current thermal.

It makes you give up either Radar Derp or Seismic Wallhack at least...

And given how good the old heat vision was, who would need Wall hack anymore? You could see everything coming from 1500m and in... ;)

And while they're at it, bring back the old missile animation.

Disagree.

Thermals should be as they are.

Back when the old thermals were blue you wouldn't need to switch to any other vision mode, it was OP. I would ask myself back then why I had a nice gaming computer if all I saw was a simple blue screen everytime I played.

I was glad when they changed it. Now there were other vision modes to use.

The problem with old thermal wasn't that it was unrealistic (it was actually dead-on with today's tech), it's that PGI didn't make the mech's heat signatures realistic.

Right now thermal vision presums the entire mech is not only warmer than ambient, but also evenly heated. It would take more than a second from power-up for heat to warm up a few tons of armor & multi-ton extremities lacking heatsinks. If they made weapon strikes leave heat traces on mech surfaces, it would reward good aim.

Adding limited sight range is what changed that, not the color change. Bring back predator vision but with limited range like the OP and all the threads like this say and everything would be good.

I'm against the multicolored version; modern-day thermal imaging systems (including those mounted on Abrams Tanks) utilize black-and-white; so target appear as white-hot or black-hot.

If anything, I'd like the option to switch between white-hot and black-hot.
