Clan ACs still suck.

Better, and you must be doing the clan UACs wrong. I love them.

I don't run a lot of wildly off-base things - the notion of running an AC/5, an LRM-10, an SRM-4, a Streak SRM-2, three medium lasers, a small laser and a flamer in order to be 'ready for anything' and to 'Frack the Meta(!)' is pretty dismal for me. I depise the notion of letting Metamechs build my machines for me, and I will spend endless hours in the 'Mechlab fiddling around...but I also like to win games.

So I suppose most of my machines are...semi-meta, perhaps? At least insofar as this particular misuse of the word 'meta' goes. A classic example is my (current) Warhawk:

WHK-Prime(I): BOOMSTICK

Not wildly divergent from the whole Beamspam McGee meta, but divergent enough to work for me. People aren't usually prepared for a Warhawk to aggressively blast them in the face with a gigantic autocannon and a bunch of close-range pulse lasers rather than try and poke from 900m with cERLL or some such.

It does suffer from the Warhawk's Direbulk disease, and it's unfortunately somewhat prone to erratic behavior (if I lose the autocannon early I can more or less just quit the match)...but you'd be surprised how durable a Warhawk can seem when people are busy madly twisting away from the 40-damage dakkastorms you're leveling at their faceholes on top of a surprising amount of wub.

It's an emerging pattern in a lot of my 'Mechs, actually - Quack/10 or 20, or double(triple!) Quack/5, backed by enough lasers to make a go of it if the gun(s) decide to jam up on me. I've got a Quack/10 TBR with four cMPL that's proven a capable hunter, and my dual Quack/5 CBN with hex cERML riding sidecar is hot as blazes if I'm not careful, but also an amazing cleaner with a surprising amount of pressure to it so long as the Quacks play nicely. The burst tune-ups on Quacks are just what the doctor ordered - those guns are a ton of fun to play with now.

I tried that. I thought you might be able to effectively alpha with all the DHS and the quirks.

You can't.

3 ERPPCs still has stupid ghost heat, instead setup your fire groups to chain fire, or what I do is left click to group fire the 2 torso PPCs, right click fires the 1 arm PPC, and stagger enough to not have ghost heat. When you start getting hot, just run away for a bit while cooling down, 85kph is pretty Awesome in an Awesome :)

Any Quickdraw?

Basically, aything that isn't used in every single match?

I quite enjoy my almost stock IV-Four. As well as all the Vindicators. Ialso drive a Twin UAC5 Shawk-2H, a 4xStreak+2 LPL Shawk-2D2. I love my TWIN FLAMER+4xSRM6 Griffin-2N. And i had tons of fun in the 3xPPC+3xSL Hunch-4J(nice heatgen quirks, no hunch - safe XL). I run 3xML+LRM15 on a Raven-3L(no ecm sniping, just hang behind your brawlers and annoy the enemy) and all sorts of other silly builds. I must be Tier 5 :D

I personally prefer the QKD-4G (basically the Champion build), but i do love the Vindicators, Urbanmechs, Atlases, Centurions, Lolcusts, Jenners and many other mechs you don't usually see many in-game nowadays

You'll see lotsa Jenners in a few months.

Liek no rly. No ly.

EDIT: Suppose I forgot one that's pretty cleanly not-Meta, my Shadow Cat.

SHC-PRIME: AutoCatnun

I love this 'Mech. It's awful but I love it anyways. Runs cool, nice and sneaky with the ECM, and is a smooth, simple joy to pilot. I adore how well Shadow Cats jump, and this particular Shadow Cat is the best I've come up with insofar as plugging up the 'Mech's sad armament issues. I wouldn't even trade out M.A.S.C. on this design - the Quack/10's proven to be an excellent multifunction gun with a lot more utility than I'd previously gotten out of anything else.

I don't carry no matches in my AutoCatNun, but I pull my own weight more often than not. That's the important part. Well, the other important part. The first important part is that it's just a blast to run.

Not *REAL* Jenners.
Just disgusting clan Jenner abominations, that are Jenners in name only. .

I really do not like Clantech, you can probably see that, can't you?

Time to rain on the parade.

Some of these builds are literally "I hope my team carries me" builds. It's fun to do things like NARC if you're in a premade with LRMs but in solo drops you're likely to just be a liability. Mixed builds like ACs+LRMs are just as bad.

So please, think of the children.

HAHAHA
You funny meta-cheese man.

Hey, as soon as your Jenners hit 150 klicks sans Tweak with thirty-warhead payloads, we'll get to talking. Until then, this disgusting abomination will stick with his shiny toys :P

On a slightly more relevant note, at least you can't accuse me of running nothing but beamspam, what with four autocannon-centric builds listed already! What, do I need to flash my old cLBX/20 Adder to get some rep up in this house?!

I like to run around in this quickdraw sometimes.
Not particularly dangerous, but a great striker, plays like my Urbanmech build but with SRM's :D

Heavy Metal
- 2 SRM6 with Art
- 3 medium lasers
- Gauss rifle

That is one of my fun builds.

Atlas DDC
- 2 LRM 10s
- 1 LRM 5
- AC20
- 2 medium lasers

I know lrms on an assault but lrms help pin down enemy into cover so i can get close and stomp them with some AC20 love and medium lasers.

Atlas S
- 4 SRM 4s (or LRM 5s)
- 4 medium lasers
- AC20

Hope you have fun.

Love the picture, reminds me of the days when they first came out. All sorts of hilarity on the order of EBJ breakdancing. :) You did miss my follow up statement though.

Oh, my 3L stays in the garage until needed, ie working with my unit. I don't bring it unless I know there are LRMs in play. :)

Sad thing is, you're right. I don't dare bring it out unless I am coordinating with my unit.

point is, not everyone needs to lean on the crutch of the latest and greatest "it" build (refrain from using the term meta cause it's misused). I purposely stay away from them. And I hate being grouped into a category by someone random I don't even know in a post.

Many pilots jump-sniped in MW4:Mercs, but I never once caved. I don't feel the need to jump on the bandwagon of a particular "it" build in MWO either.

My Adder rocking a UAC20 with 2.5 tons of Ammo I believe and 3 or 4 Small Lasers (can't recall off the top of my head) and practically full armor. Nobody expects that when they get up close with me. Can take out CT's like a boss.
