I think it would be cool if we had a character creator like that in EVE, but with outfits more appropriate to the BT/MW universe, and no, I am not talking about an 80s look, but a look more up to date. The mechs got a more modern look so why not the style and trends for our pilots? This of course when your hanging out in your hanger, not when your "going to work."

I love the 80s style cyberpunk look!

Instead of drawn portraits, they can give us tools to "draw" our own portrait. We start with selecting a face shape as our canvas, then select and add facial features to it from a library. Similar to Black Ops 2's emblem maker. This will free up their artist from having to constantly supply new portrait, and people get to include their likeness into the game. Or we just abuse it to make weird stuff like what the Internet always does. Many Man Online Role Playing Girl

Why not just let us upload photos? This is the only game I've ever used my real name for and I'd also happily upload a photo of my beautiful face :)

Whats the point of the pilot character in Star Citizen? This sounds like a jealous Star Citizen reply by the way. Also by the way, Mechwarrior > Star Citizen, just like Kenshi > X-COM, just like Fallout 4 > some bad but hyped game(couldnt think of anything to campare it to :)).

Star Citizen may turn out ok though and may even be great but it wont ever have great battles or factions or depth like Mechwarrior and Mechwarrior can have everything Star Citizen can have easily and way better as a matter of fact. Way. Why? Because Star Citizen basically has tiny crap ships. After selling those for 100's of dollars how do they add awsome ships?

There are brigdes of capital ships but this game refused to add them, I suspect because it is way to cool. Players modded them in though. In fact this game deliberately ruined the product because it so far ahead of Star Citizen. I think the massive money going into Star Citizen had a role to play. This game is light years ahead of Star Citizen at the moment.

Star Citizen is actually pretty dope had a chance to play it during alpha, its has very BIG potentials and more to come, I expect half this community will be playing it by open beta or actual release.

One big problem with this is if a player chooses a female pilot avatar and then a dudes voice comes over comms. Thats just not cool.

Comms wheel has alot of benefits also like immersion and all sorts. A huge addition though and is likely why it isnt in game yet.

That's an easy fix nothing a good audio recording can't fix.

Pilot portraits would be awesome.

Being able to assign a pilot to each 'mech would be awesome.

A meaningful skill tree would be awesome ...

But really, I’m pretty sure all the people who want a "hangar", would be just fine with a “1st person view” option when viewing a mech. A button you click and it spawns you in front of your mech, in a single bay (or triple bay hangar with two other mechs beside it), and the only purpose it serves is so you can walk around your mech and look up at it. That’s all we really want anyways. Maybe with an elevator behind that that takes you up to a second scaffolding level to look down at it.

But anything apart from that, like a huge 150 mech bay hangar would be too cumbersome, requiring some sort of hangar transportation like a buggy or teleportation pad (watch out for the lore freaks). Multi-player hangar requires character animations (if you want to see your friend in the hangar with you), design for visiting other players hangars (any time, when they’re online only, invite only) and all of the backend and front end support for connecting clients to a hangar (server, UI, etc). I’m not really convinced that all that work is worth it for a novelty… :(

Are you?

Don’t get me wrong - a fully-fledged hangar would be really cool and I’d be behind it 100%, but only if there were purposes beyond just something pretty to look at.

Really? You are in the minority. Most of us would LOVE a dynamic mechlab specifically so we could drool all over our giant robots. :)

Your real name is Tyler Valentine? That's the most bad ass thing I've ever heard. What are you doing here on an MWO forum? Judging by your name, you should be out fighting crime or something. Frank Castle, John Constantine, Tyler Valentine.

With great names comes great responsibility.

All the people who mistook you for a girl and were overly nice for you in-game. Hell, I'm still kind of embarassed that I sent you all those d**k pics.

Well, let's not get crazy. I ask for some simple pilot portraits that would take any decent artist about a day's work or two, and people come back with customizable portraits, different 3D character models, different sets of clothing, fully detailed 1PV hangars with all our mechs and a social module that lets us invite people to our hangar.

If PGI dropped everything they were doing and focused only on the things listed above, they would have it done no sooner than 2019.

Soon ™

Right after they do something about the No Signal Detected monitors in the cockpits.

And, after they give us back the ability to rotate our mechs in the mechlab, which they somehow managed to nearly remove from the game...

The guy who coded it left the company. That's your answer for the monitors or the mechlab rotate feature (you decide).

I first got into this game because it was advertised as a sort of MMO.

We need to get out of our mechs and explore. Walk through our hangers, see a living space with trophies, an actual avatar.

Gives the player some perspective relative to scale, to faction, etc.

Otherwise it's just a COD deathmatch with robot bodies.
