Our first Q&A had an overwhelming response. So much in fact, we probably have enough content to fill 10 months of community updates. Rest assured we’ll give you another chance to ask the developers questions about the game. And we promise to let Matt answer one. Maybe.

I'm gonna need a firmer commitment on the Matt inclusion.

Randall is a well-known BT writer, right? Will be interesting, though he probably won't provide anything about Gameplay. Good thing - we have the Dev Blog for that ^_^

I'm hoping for a solid overview of how the war between the great houses works. But I'll be happy with a fleshing out of the Mercenary Commands.

I love reading his Battleblogs in the board game's website and maybe he'll blow our minds by putting info about this interview in his Battleblogs!

He's pretty much head honcho of Catalyst and was the previous line developer to the board game. Now he oversees not only Battletech but Shadowrun and Leviathans!

I would just love to see some in game video.

Even if it's a couple boxes with plain meshes shooting boxes at each other. Concept art is cool and all, but some sort of video of current works would be awesome!

Yes! Finally we start getting to the meat and potatoes!

This is possibly the thing I'm most interested in learning about. Community warfare has a nice ring to it.

Ah yes, I knew I forgot someone.
Catalyst also handles casual games like Poo.

Video footage. All the talky talky is nice, but we need some video footage.

What do you want them to show, more wall concept art? Who know how much code they even have gotten done yet. I bet they are still working on the basics of the mech combat, maybe even movemeny, it has just been over just a month of them coding.

Is Randall going to explain why Loren Coleman is still employed by CGL? :/ I want answers to BTech and MWO questions as well, but I will not be comfortable with the future of the franchise as long as Coleman is still involved and the questions are cleared up.

Did I miss something about CGL? My understanding is that Loren is one of the co-founders of CGL, the primary driving force behind it?

I am not trying to stir up trouble here and mainly I want an answer that CGL is on firm financial footing and they have made their debts to employees and contractors right. This stems from a financial issue they had in 2010. WIthout going into a lot of particulars I will quote part of a Catalyst Game Labs press release from 2010..
"While we wish the review had only uncovered positive news, we also discovered our accounting procedures had not been updated as the company continued to grow. The result was that business funds had been co-mingled with the personal funds of one of the owners. We believe the missing funds were the result of bad habits that began alongside the creation of the company, which was initially a small hobby group. Upon further investigation, in which the owner has willingly participated, the owner in question now owes the company a significant balance and is working to help rectify the situation."

This resulted in missed payments to employees and independent contractors and almost caused the company to go under. The missing funds were linked back to Coleman and the word embezzlement was thrown around, though I do not think the company ever pressed charges (nor recouped the funds, though if I am wrong on this, I hope someone corrects me as it will make me feel much better about the whole situation.) If you want some more information, PM me. I mainly want to know that the BTech and MW licenses that Piranha is using is in good/stable hands.

Our license is not directly tied to CGL in any way.

IIRC video games go under the license of Microsoft not Topps nor Catalyst, nor are the games canon though they can follow it if they want.
