You know when you've dropped in the bottom tier when a guy on your team shouts "SPREAD OUT AND CAP" when we've lost 3 mechs to their 1

Assuming tiers follow a normal distribution, most players would be in T3 which means they get to see the best and worst of both worlds.

I am not a good player so I don't wish to mock others as T5. However, there are some obvious signs that will almost always guarantee your side is doomed. These usually happen with 60 seconds of game start. For example:

- Team splits off in 3 direction with great enthusiasm (Common on Canyon conquest)
- Team takes forever to move off
- Team seems to have difficulties navigating (can't find the way out from spawn on HPG)
- Team don't dare to push out of entrance because a couple of lights are buzzing them (also HPG)
- Half team decides to push, other half decides to defend
- Lots of laser swishing "weapons testing" from start.
- One player "weapons test" into another player so the latter also "weapons test" in retaliation. Repeat process until one mech is killed
- Direwolf spends lots of time trying to burn down a tree with his small lasers rather than catching up with everyone else
- Team mate boldly announces we need to close the range because he does his damage at close range. 3 mechs gamely follow that Centurion to their doom

Feel free to add ...

I can't complain about most games but I have been killed by FF in 2 out of 5 games tonight. Perhaps I spent too much time in my 3AMS/ECM KF. :P

Just look out for any 3PV drones. Most new (Tier 4) players have them (and they're on by default).

I prepare the ground on River City because I hate it when my gauss shot hits a tree. So if you see me dancing on the trees and statues behind the citadel, that's why.

Simple newbie test: Laser them in the back

Turns at you instantly: Not a newbie

Turns at you when their CT gets critical damage: Somewhat newbie

Never turns to you until they die: Very newbie

I just played an assault match (very close game) *snip*

If it was very close, it usually is an entertaining and "good" match, so PSR and matchmaking worked for you?
Beside the new player ;)

Bear in mind, a game can have a high spread in kills but still be close if all of the enemy 'Mechs are a breath away from death. I've had many of those.

When I score 300 I am in tier 1
when I score 600 I am in tier 4
when I score more than 600 tier 5

Now that you mentioned it.

Had a game a few nights ago on Caustic. My team was down 7-11 so what could possibly save the day you ask?

Almost simultaneously, 3 enemy mechs over heated and went boom. Lone surviving team mate finished off the other 2.

Talk about seizing defeat from the jaws of victory.

Don't take that for granted.

PSR is heavily based on score => Score is heavily based on damage => LRMs are ineffective at killing but good damage dealers => LRMs rank better than they did before.

EDit: PSR and actual skill are two different things
