I miss being in low tier games. Since the update I have had the humbling experience of being a midling player in most of my matches.

I also learned the hard way I can no longer **** around at the beginning of a match- If I get behind at all I WILL end up dead with no damage.

-My first 3 matches I died with under 50 damage because I wasnt in a fast mech going full NASCAR
-I havent seen LRMs in ages.
-If I poke I eat a dozen gauss slugs
-Nobody misses.
-I have to give 110% to break 600 damage
-I see EMP\SJx\420\TOOL\Lords\BMMU\ect ect. EVERY MATCH!!
-I went from feelin like a god to feeling like a grunt

All n all, after a week or so, I can say that the new MM works damn well. I feel like one soldier among many. It may be a huge ego hit, but Im finally up against players largely as good or better than myself.

I've had a similar experience: EmP, 228, QQ, KCom, JFP, and -MS- almost every match. The worst part is that I got to where the game thinks I am by playing joke 'Mechs, and as such I don't have and can't get anything I could build to perform at the level the game now wants me to without selling the 'Mechs I actually like.

and -MS- almost every match

one of the last -ms- members who i met, cool story

so, it was a bog conquest, we were winning both by cap and by kills, enemy had only 1 crab left, we had plenty of mechs, the crab tried to cap one of the points, i was nearby but the crab was relatively whole and i was a half alive streakcrow so i needed some help to kill it, there was an almost undamaged -ms- timber nearby, i called them and pointed to the crab. now, the timber immediately turned 180 degrees from the crab and fled away! i was just... wow. so i didn't approach the crab too not to give away a kill and simply told what the timber did in the all chat and called them a coward, the timber probably pretended to be ashamed since they turned back... because they knew they had no time to reach the crab now till we win by cap. then i saw on the end screen, that timber did 90 damage. also they used 'clan exemplar' title; that's how a clan wolf exemplar looks like

I will admit that with playing only solo queue, my matches are starting to balance out. Yes, roflstomps happen, but now I'm seeing more on my side, and my win percentage is going up slowly. I'm closing in on 50% again. Could just be a fluke of statistics, but.... it at least gives me the impression things are going better.

Well, -MS- is huge and has (had?) members from many skill levels. I was sitting in their coms when they had an all-hands meeting early this year to essentially dictate to those members that they were going full comp and that the old members who were there for funsies would need to find a new unit if they didn't start building and bringing comp gear, which they had codified into the slides of a powerpoint by Kin3tix (I think it was his). There would be a grace period, but then members still resisting would get kicked.

I don't know if they actually followed through on that plan, since quite a few of the resisting members were old guard.

But, suffice it to say, -MS- can be pretty good, but the names associated with -MS- don't attract a lot of priority fire from me when compared to some of the names associated with KCom or EmP or even certain randoms. If I see Yri3l, Eglar, Kristian Radoulov, or Mechanically Engineered, I'm calling shots for the team to focus them down whenever they show up. In contrast, I can't name anybody from -MS- off the top of my head who I would call focus fire on.

It's a mixed bag for me, oddly. And I'm right at the bottom of Tier 5, I think. Though from time to time I drop with the unit and actually manage not to embarrass them too much, LoL, so there is that.

It's like Forrest Gump's box of chocolates in PUGlandia right now. You never know what you're going to get. Sometimes it's great, and other times I get PPFLD snipered down from two klicks away by someone I can't even see or one-shotted in the back by someone that didn't show up on radar (haven't the GXP to unlock Seismic and Radar Deprivation yet) fifteen seconds after launch. Beats me how these people can see me and shoot me like that from so far away. But they do. When that happens I just punch out and pick another mech (who wants to spend 14 minutes spectating when you can *do*?), and off I go again to see if it gets better next time and often, it does.

I see a lot more brawls, especially in the more fun maps like River City, Caustic Valley, Tourmaline Desert, and Forest Colony. I still hate the Viridian Bog and HPG Manifold, but strangely, some of my best fights have been there.

Overall, I think the results show promise.

On the other hand, when the brawls start, it all depends on whether I'm LRMishing or whether I'm trying to use ACs or lasers. If the former, I hang in for awhile and sometimes do some good. If the latter...well, some things are better left unspoken. Upshot is that the new PSR is a mixed bag for me, and that's not a bad thing.

It's funny... I see a lot of people saying that the new system is better, but I think the loudest voices in favor of it are T1 and T5 players. Only their tiers are restricted, meaning that only their tiers are guaranteed to be reasonably balanced. It's like PGI took the classic bell curve, then inverted it so that the very best and the very worst players would get the best experience, while the majority of the player population would see little change at all.

I will concede that close games are more common than they were before, but then again so are complete shutouts. The "okay" match (where the losing side takes 4 to 7 kills) seems to be a thing that's become all but extinct in the middle brackets of the solo queue, and you have just as much of a chance of being used as "Carry Filler" as before. Yeah, I know, MWO matches tend to snowball because of the disparity in firepower after one side gets a kill... but it's the difference between a rare occurrence and a nonexistent one. I've had losses where I got half the kills and more damage than any of the assault 'Mechs in my light (and I don't drive FS9s or ACHs), and the rest of the team got at best half my score. That just didn't happen before the switchover. I'm an average player at best, and I know I didn't magically get that much better overnight because when I face off against upper-tier players they still dismantle me with the same ruthless efficiency as before.

So, good for newbies and comps, I guess. The newbies get murdered a few times and drop to Tier 5 where they can learn the ropes in relative peace and quiet, and the comps quickly rise to T1 where they can happily slaughter any upstart mortals who dare intrude upon their realm. It's just us Average Joes who get crapped on.

No need for new players learning bad experiences, at least tier 2/3 pilots can teach the new players.

All I saw when I was newer were people making fun of my 'disco' (which I didn't understand, and was using what weapons I could afford) and people saying we are going to lose look at all these newb titles people are using like knight errant and little helper. This was before the new tiers.

At least the forums have been helpful and I'm now a contributing (monetarily and in-game) player.

Little Helper is a noob title?

You have to get 500 assists in Lights to earn that one. If you've gotten 500 assists, you probably aren't a noob anymore.

Depends on the context of the term noob, it doesn't always mean someone who is playing their first day. Someone who has been playing a few weeks or a month and has that achieve certainly is a noob compared to a veteran player and still has a lot to learn. I had that achieve within about two weeks of starting to play. Wasn't hard, just have to shoot things, and I'm a far better player now than I was then.

Anyway, some people should just be more helpful and nice. Get tired of seeing people ranting at the team for being 'bads' and 'noobs'. Be constructive or stfu.

Aside from very few exceptions, this is almost always a sign of a weak player.

Strong players have been carrying teams on their back for years and are pretty used to it at this point.

You need to block out that name before the mods ban you. Violates "Name and Shame" policy. Forward this unaltered image to support@mwomercs.com

Oops, I should have known including the name would have been against regulations. It usually is in game forums.

I just read the Code of conduct for MWO. The above would come under

Extreme Content
Our definition of Extreme Content includes:
  • Posting or referring to extreme and/or violent real-life actions.
  • Posting or referring to pornography.
  • Posting or referring to bodily functions.
  • Circumventing the Vulgar Word filter.
Spoiler
Steadfast to our Codes of Conduct regarding Extreme Sexuality / Violence, Obscene / Vulgar, and Inappropriate Language: We would like to remind players that the minimum age to register on MechWarrior Online is 13 years. As such, our goal is to provide a safe and friendly environment for players both young and old. Regardless of personal experience, lexicons and beliefs, or differences in linguistics and culture: Mature content such as vulgar language, adult materials, or general potty humour are not regarded as acceptable on our service and will be removed.

So I will forward it and hope he gets a slap on the wrist at least, then maybe he'll grow up a bit for when he reaches 13 and can play the game as advised.

You know you're in the Steering Wheel Underhive if...

You encounter me in one of your matches. ;)

I got a match vid of you me and Alex Reed in a 3 way panther catfight on Crimson Strait. At least I think that was you in the third panther. You killed me.

...bugger.

My corner of the underhive is decorated in hexagon and early ballpit motif. Hope you like the place. Lots of nets and wear your helmet for safety.

Panthers are fun. I like Panthers. As someone whose advice noone who ever wants to be good at MWO should ever take, because I'm a crappy pilot, I wholeheartedly endorse Panthers and all Panther-related activities!

Panthers are fun is what I'm saying.

Yay Panthers!

Population classes has ruined empires. Open K/D and ratings/tier levels will ruin any game - making ppl to "his tier is too low, nothing to discuss here...". this called "presentiment". Hope we will never become like modern FPS showoff rating fappers. <_<
