DFA Light Mech Upgrade

DFA or "Death From Above" for the light mechs, maybe an upgrade to legs that has detachable spikes with explosives that have a 3 second delay that could penetrate the cockpit and in effect bring down or cripple a med-heavy mech. (Dead Pilot)

You would have a squad of "Gnats" That not only scout but could be a viable threat. "Also target practice for catapults"

Just a thought.

DFA has a very visceral appeal, but it is very risky as a primary attack method. Aside from the obvious miss/fall down risks you are also damaging your mech's legs with every DFA. This is why the hatchetman was awesome: DFA but hit with the Axe instead of the feet; up the damage with minimal fall over chance and unlikely to damage your own legs.

With all great rewards come greater risks. It should not be easy. Typically when my mech was toast I went to this last option. :-)

The Jade Falcons liked using "Talons" on some of their later mechs, but thats decades from now in game time.

I think a better option would be some form of Atlas wielded UrbanMech cannon. This would appeal to both the UrbanMech lovers and haters and give the Urbie some function after you run out of AC/20 ammo.
