If we ever get PvE I hope the pre-mission briefings are based of the ideas of 3.

Personally, I really loved that most of the Mechwarrior games had a somewhat novel story to tell in the BT universe. In MW2, you were part of a vast war machine, just a soldier in Clan Wolf or Jade Falcon. In MW2:Mercs, you had your own operation after your predecessor died, leaving you big boots to fill. You had to worry about contracts, hiring mechwarriors, even finding air support for your missions. In MW3 there was a fantastic campaign that took a small force deep behind enemy lines. The specifics of the story escape me. In MW4:Vengeance you had another mercenary story, but from a different time, with a greater focus on the persona of Spectre and the choices he made for profits, honour or humanity. And the MechCommander stories were different too, often getting a broader perspective and more focus on the BT politics, if I recall correctly. They had some famous BT characters in there, I believe. You were part of rebellions and stuff. It was great.
A lot of people are saying PVE shouldn't take away from PVP in MWO, but... don't people miss that sort of stuff? For me, it's a lot more important than doing a scale pass on the Nova to make sure it's just as meta as the Stormcrow. Games have limited shelf life anyway, and I'd like to see some PVE in this game before it dies. Who knows when the next MW game will be out.

No, it needs PPC, gauss and a few LPL just for kicks. And if it needs more ammo, drop off the CT internal armor to get an extra ton in there. If that fails, your back and head armor can go to.
But yeah, old Mechwarrior was epic. I still play Mechcommander 1 and it works even on my Windows 8 PC. To bad MW3 NEVER worked on my PC for some reason, not even when it had XP.....I really wanted to play that one. I played through half of MW2 on CW And CJF, I played some MW2 Mercs, MW4 and all its parts, MC1 and 2...but never MW3...

Is there anybody who actually strips CT armor in this game? (Allocating most of the rear CT to the front isn't the same as stripping it out).

I dunno dude the Mechcommander intro did a good job of capturing the essence of the franchise imo.

MW3 on XP is kinda weird. I had to run it in one compatability mode for the first half of the campaign + training, then switch to another one for the second half. Else it'll crash to desktop.

Yeah, that video just makes Mechwarrior epic.
Basically shows how gameplay should be in MWO really. 1 vastly superior clan mech defeated through coordination and teamwork, not laser spam from 3 lesser mechs cuz they get better quirks.

I ran MW3 on my Windows7 & quad core machine like 6 months ago.
The trick is:
Download the entire damn CD onto your hard drive, install from there on same drive. Run it as admin, in compatibility mode. Cross fingers.
Not having to read a "CD" for a game meant to run on a "16x" speed cd drive with a computer 10X more powerful(or more) helped with most of the crashing and other errors. there is still game bugs mind you, game might freeze on some mission start ups, or crash out at a certain spot repeatedly, but I played the whole campaign with little issue this way.
I was going to try Pirate's Moon in this way too, but got my "fix" and moved on to another game after finishing off those damn dirty Jaguars and escaping the planet.
Worth a shot anyway. I mean, damn I love the weapons in MW3.

What always happens for me is I either get terrible video glitches, where t he screen just goes all wonky, or I play and it suddenly crashes...and it crashed..ALOT.....it got to the point where it was every damn time id start it. So, i have given up on it.

Thats why I still enjoy playing living legends more than MWO, the Solaris announcer is boss.
Well that and MWOs mechlab has way to much freedom, leading to the over use of meta loadouts on a very few select chassis with "good" hardpoint locations. this has made weapon balance effectively impossible.
