I would sign up, but unfortunately at those times it would be quite difficult for me.

If you register and you have a time constraint, I am more than willing to work with people on this matter. Within reason of course. :)

Please remember that the schedule is tentative until October.

Everyone should have enough mechs. :)

Trail mechs can be utilized during the tournament. They may not be ideal but that shouldn't be a deterrent. Our unit duels quite often in 1 .v. 1 battles and we use trial mechs in many of them. Sometimes the trials are better. Not necessarily heat efficient, but still.

Get the word out everyone! We need 50 more registered participants before this tournament can go into full swing. We have 28 days to recruit that many participants for the tournament. :)

We cap at 200. But we need to 50 more to meet the minimum threshold.

Damn, just barely unable to make October 10th.

Anyways, you should post it to the subreddit for more exposure.

Question:

You will be notified will in advance as to what mechs you should prepare for your duels.

Does this mean matches will be either 1) A set chassis class e.g. Medium/Heavy OR 2) A variant selected at random by the organiser.

Question 2: Does this also mean that both competitors will play with the same variant?

Just to clarify. :)

This means that your chassis class e.g. Medium/Heavy will be selected with a random generator.

No you will not be require to play in the same variant or mech of that class.

So for example, "if your duel is set as a IS heavy chassis class; then you and your opponent can fight in any available Heavy IS mech you may have." For this example the duel scenario may be between an Orion and a Thunderbolt or a Dragon and a Catapult. It depends on what you have and which mech in your bays you would want to use for that duel.

As a Note:
I would have liked to do variants of the same mech and chassis but that would be quite extreme because not everyone is going to have the same mechs, etc...and I don't expect anyone to use their hard earned c-bills or MC on mechs they don't really want. So brush up on your mechs and choose wisely when the time comes. :)

Ok then, was just wondering what rules will say about picking between NA/EU/OC game servers for matches.

So I have though about this and unofficially/officially this is how it will break down. If and when we meet our minimum threshold of registered participants (we need 47 more FYI. ;)) the brackets will be set randomly. During the set up phase for the duel I will ask both participants which sever they utilize for drops and then the duel will be on that server if it is the same or a server that is equitable to both participants. For example: If both combatants mostly use the European server then the European server would be the one utilized for that duel. If we had a player who mostly used the NA server and the other combatant used the OC server then the duel would take place on the European server because that is the mid-way server for both combatants. In the case of NA/EU duels because the commentators are US based, in the case of a EU player and a NA player dueling the default server will be the NA server to prevent lag and overly inflated 'pings.' In the case of an OC/OC duel we are still testing that functionality to make sure that the commentators will not affect the match, but by default that type of duel would be fought on an OC server.

I am glad to see the enthusiasm! Yep only 47 more registered participants needed and then let the matchmaking begin!
