It's been with me from the beginning, just like my Jenner and Hunchback, but that's not the whole reason why I love it.
Sure you could put a few extra tons of weapons and armor on other heavies, but the catapult feels like such a comfortable blend of speed, firepower and protection that it always seems to do well.
Its a heavy mech, so you get to have heavy weapons like PPCs and large LRM launchers while also being strapped into a mech that can actually move. You can go with the standard model for reliable output or plug in those expensive upgrades to really ramp up the performance.
Its also a good looking mech, and mine has that rare 'bird of prey' nose that although not as stylized as those of the standard model gives it a charm and individuality on the field that every mech jockey can appreciate.
The catapult is the kind of mech that simply should not be ignored, but makes it very easy to be. More often than not that annoying warning from betty leads to a complete loss of armor within a few volleys of missiles, and mechs that try to close with it to stop the rain find that the lasers are a tougher challenge than they first appear on the corner of their targeting computer.
There's a very good reason the most formidable and popular mech in the clan arsenal is literally 50% catapult.
But I admit, i'm a bit of a purist.

The games are fun win or lose. Half the time, I end up running into a full enemy team and it's a victory in and of itself just to make it back out to friendly territory.
It's a little murder bot under the right circumstances, and it always brings a smile to my face.

I've always been a fan of the Adder since MW4:Mercs, and was very excited seeing it introduced in MWO.
The Adder is just a very versatile light mech which can boat a good deal for its weight class. I've run LRM builds, SRM builds, SSRM builds, Energy builds, dual C-UAC2 builds; you just can't go wrong with any of them played right.
My go-to build is dual C-UAC2 with 3 C-ERSL, as it offers good damage along with excellent ranged fire support. You wouldn't want to brawl against anyone with it, and it runs a little hot, but it does wonders when you don't get caught with your pants down.

Ever tried an Adder with UAC20 and 4 ERSLs? Bloody Murder at 270m or less. But you burn through 2.5 tons of UAC20 pretty quick if you don't jam.

Then I view the Puma as my small adorable child.

Also starting to like the Enforcer among mediums, most of them play like flying Centurions.
If there was a mech in BT that is me? Its something we don't have and may never have.
The Warhammer. I just love that thing.

The Can Opener.
My very first Mech in MWO, and my go to when I positively, absolutely have to rip some tryhard a new one. She ain't fast, she ain't pretty. But she packs the biggest, meanest ballistic wrecking ball in the game, and the mobility to let me stick it in your kidneys when you least expect.

Backstabber.
Thug.
Assassin.
Alley Cat.
OG, baby.

I can well imagine. You need to pack a lot of ammo for the clan ultra cannons. Your armor must be incredible with that build... but now that I think about it, I was running with a build like that earlier today that got lit up in no time by LRMs right out of the gate. Tradeoffs I guess?

I had a match on old FC and waddled over a hill to tackle an enemy Stalker. Whenever he looked away to the main fight, I'd dump a double tap of the UAC into him, and when he looked back, I'd chain fire the Smalls while jinking like mad. He'd look at me, look over me to see where the 40 Damage came from, look back at me, and then carry on blazing into the main fight. Managed to do this three times before he must have finally actually targeted me and realized I was packing the 20 as well.
People just don't expect that sort of firepower from a light that isn't a Firestarter or Cheetah.

CDA-3M: Default mech(one true mech i guess). I quit for 6 months and when i came back there was no question, the 3M got dusted first.
Protector+X5: Both My first Hero mech and i always feel good in them, it's like going back home where you were a kid.
Malinche: Because sometimes im a monster and i need to just "fire" everyone with with extreme prejudice.
Pirate Bane: When im going to have unexplainable fun at any cost and there's nothing in the world than can stop that, not even an early death 25 second into a match.
Honorable mention to my Battlemasters, they look awesome and fight the same.

(Note, when I'm posting this, my unit is aligned with Kurita. I assure you that's mechbay-hunting co-incidence, not any sort of lore minded game decision)
The Dragon 1C was the first mech I purchased, far back as the first Operation 24, whenever that was. I quickly hated it, when I learned what a Cadet Bonus was, and what some mechs such as the Jaggermech was capable of given their hardpoint placement, ect. I ALMOST quit Mechwarrior soon after, but decided I'd at least master this one mech to give Mechwarrior Online a fair chance.
In the time it took me to do that, I became comfortable with the game enough to stay. As I learned more about the game, I came to realize the Dragon played into my tendencies more than any other mech: It is fast and agile weapons platform that can probably move a Guass rifle across the battlefield faster than any other mech. (Sure, you can fit guass on smaller mechs, but you won't have as much ammo, and might even be slower if you drop your engine size.) As a player who likes to take long shots on unsuspecting or distracted targets, the Dragon 1C is a great mech.
By now, it's layout is almost fixed. Guass, 4 tons, SRM 6, Med laser x4, and an XL 320.
