A small "daily log in" bonus would be cool too.
Something like an extra 1% bonus to XP / CBills for each day you play a game, stacking +1% each day up to 10-20% or so. Something noticeable for regulars, but not so powerful as to deprive PGI of premium time users.

max group size should be 4 in regular games. you should have to use the custom lobby for games with groups bigger than 4.

Its even worse in CW as they just have to choose the same planet
the only way around it in CW is the removal of separate selectable planet list
ie you have chosen to fight for jade falcon and the Kahn (PGI algorithm) has decided you will fight here.

Simple fix. Only one group per team would be allowed to prevent sync drops.
CW is dead now and large premades are to blame. 12 mans stomping pugs and smaller groups NEVER shouldve been allowed and has caused NOTHING but problems and grief. Its time to just get rid of that problem once and for all.
They can still use the custom lobby to play 12v12 premade games. But CW needs to be preserved for solo queue and small group players, they make up 90-95% of the player base. Yet theyre denied being able to play a fair match in CW because of premades.

The problem isnt so much a small player base but the fact the player base is so segregated between different gamemodes, solo and premade, CW etc...
They need to integrate every gamemode and map into CW. Make everything count as CW. Get rid of the large premades and make it max group size of 4 with one group per team. Just have two queues for everyone (one for IS and one for clan) instead of having all these different queues that seperate the player base for no good reason.
Then there would be enough players to keep CW going, each faction would have enough players then, and the wait times wouldnt be nearly as bad.

It won't work on everyone and I won't say I'll be logging in every single day if they implement such a system (also take into account the large patch days and not everyone can patch it immediately so some leeway is required).
Also note that logging in and doing nothing doesn't help much other than pad your statistics. At the very least playing a game of some sort is required to 'check in' for it to benefit, but many games simply reward you for logging in for the day without doing anything (PSO2, Summoner's Legion and so on). A secondary system of tasks for the day usually accompanies a daily login reward.
1) Get someone to log in - Daily login reward
2) Get that person who logged in to do stuff - Daily tasks rewards
That's how it usually goes. Hopefully they will find the game fun too.

Then drop 4 + 8 solos on the same world at the same time. It's not like the CW map doesn't tell you exactly what the current planet queue composition is for planning purposes.
Seriously. Not that hard.
Limiting groups is stupid.

They did that already...i dunno if you were here when it was like that but it sucked. Once they lifted the 4 man group limit the game had a influx of players and started to flourish.
Since then the stagnation of group play content has caused it to go back down....
71,428 Cbills a day log in bonus. If you are so inclined as to play every day for the week you get a free 500,000 (499,996) cbills just for logging in.
If you drop for at least one match Double it so that if you log in and drop one (even if they are 7 losses for the week) you will get 1million cbills. A serious ease on the grind IMO and something to help the cadets especially...
If you play 10 games a day add another little bonus, or have achievements that change daily/weekly. Mondays are MC challenge day, Tuesday is Cbill Bonus day, Wednesday is Mechbay Challenge day, even do them one week out of the month would be something.
Incentive is needed if the game play is going to ebb and flow and be stagnant from time to time, its not a huge issue if they make it lucrative in others ways and worth it to stick around through meta changes, map updates, New Broken mech releases and the like.
But OP you are right on track!

Dropping 4 + 8 solos wouldnt work if you have hundreds or thousands of people in the queue, like you would, if you combined everything into just the CW queue like I suggested. So yeah it would be pretty hard to get all the same people in the same game.
And no limiting groups is not stupid. In fact the majority of similar games like world of tanks and war thunder limit groups. And they do it for a reason. Because having big groups screws up game balance big time.
Given that world of tanks is extremely successful and has spun off like three different sequel games. I think we can say with confidence that world of tanks got it right by not allowing large groups to beat up smaller groups and pugs (same with war thunder). Thats not good for your game.

Killing off the Large Units in a game mode that was supposedly made for Unit Combat is just a ridiculous suggestion.
What we DO need, is a reward system similar to the Faction Reward system, but for PuGlandia as well. If I remember rightly, Russ talked about this recently in one of his town halls, though whether it was for PuGlandia, or CW, I can't recall.
Point is, the thing World of Tanks/Planes/Warships does right, is having daily and weekly missions. The dailies normally award 1.5x Silver/XP, or a small amount of bonus Silver/XP. The Weekly normally has multiple criteria, but gives a huge reward, like 250,00 Silver, or a day of Premium Time, or, VERY RARELY, a Premium Tank or Vehicle Bay. Bear in mind that 250,000 Silver is a big deal in WoT. It'd be like getting 5,000,000 C-bills, give or take.
So, I don't think breaking up big groups is the way to go. We do need more content to keep people content. But giving us challenges for rewards would be a good way to bring people in. Especially achievement ****** like myself.
I'm also against giving out "participation" awards for just logging in, or playing one match. The challenge should be at least a little difficult to complete. Like destroying 12 arms in a 24hr period, for an "E's 'armless" Achievement. Which might give a bonus 1,000,000.
Anyways, my 2 C-bills from someone who religiously logs into World of Warships and World of Tanks to do the Daily missions.

But doesnt change the fact that 12-man premades fighting pugs and smaller groups isnt balanced.
regardless of what CW was designed for, its pretty obvious that allowing large groups to pugstomp isnt gonna work, and is a detriment to the game.
The only way 12mans should be allowed to play in CW is if it matches them against another 12man. Anything other than that will NEVER be balanced. But the wait times would be so long for that it would be kindve pointless...
Makes far more sense just to do what other similar games have done... and only allow smaller groups.

Which is why I think the Dailies thing is the best alternative. 12 mans and big groups can have CW, and the Faction Rewards.
Pugs and small groups can have the Instant Action queue, and Daily/Weekly rewards. Problem solved. If you don't like the Stomps, stay out of CW.

Um thats the whole problem. People are staying out of CW. And CW is dying because of it.

Which just means the Big Group Teams need to man up and actually play against other 12 mans, instead of waiting for Pugs to Stomp. We have a dedicated CW Forum. They could actually try to organise some fights.
