I for one think its a step in the right direction. More lore based events for those that dig that stuff. If this happens on a regular basis it could help keep players engaged over planets.

I would disagree with that, it would only create waves of people moving to wherever the c-bills are and no defenders on the other side. The way to go about this is to do it often and usually on the less populated factions, that way people will have an incentive to keep contracts with the underdogs.

I'd like to see the stats after these battles to show how lopsided clan vs is is these days
A bit late pgi
We can field one twelve man
Think that's enough to take the planet?

Maybe, but dont forget people are getting paid like 3-5 MC as a rough estimate per game just as a baseline reward (the only downside being the lump sums dont happen until level 10, 15, and 20). This 300 MC can be earned at any rank except that its only for Liao players.

Wouldn't be surprised if those were alts that people were just plugging in to cause 'issues'...

But you are warming up a lil bit right.. ..right?

A step in the right direction at least.. ..it could be worse, they could continue the status quo and offer nothing..
AND if they keep the rewards up, imagine how much reward you could make too-ing and fro-ing over a planet. I mean its not much, but 4 mill if you participate and suceed for a few matches is not bad sauce. MC is a bit rougher cause 300 MC doesn't get as much as 4mil C-BILLS though..

Mercanary units like mine are switching factions because we like to play CW, the rewards are good fights against other CW groups the Loyality points are good but not enough. They could even offer a loyality boost or something like that.

-To come up with some ideas regarding CW revamping, probably with community feedback. Then they could put the ideas in a vote so community could decide what would be the best solution.
-Balance Clan vs IS mechs, or at least some specific Clan mechs. They have statistics of their own and know which mech performs exceptionaly and which not (as well as numbers of players for each side). I hope the soon to come pass over quirks and mech roles will be a step in the right direction, but I have to see for myself.
The extra bonus initiative is not bad, but will do little to bring back the mass of players that left due to CW status. Only a positive change can do that and revive the whole idea.

Maybe balance is not the main reason for the low CW popularity, but still it is a factor. I wish PGI would publish some numbers regarding how many players play for each side and the average results for every mech in the game. I am quite certain that we would draw some useful conclusions from those numbers.
I did some statistics on my own (solo drops matches) and I was convinced by the numbers that Clan mechs outdamage IS ones (and that is having Clan mechs on both teams). I doubt that changes in CW drops where mechs are separated. So, if I know that when facing Clan mechs I am already in a disadvantage, why bother do CW as IS?

if you are able to score 1000 dmg in clanmechs you should be able to score the same on the is side.
everyone haS 4 mechs.
that's my mark. Kill 4, do 1000 dmg.
in pugland this would be a 250 dmg 1 kill match for each mech you bring.

I recorded data from 60 games in solo drops; different players, different mechs, diferent days. One thing was consistant though. Clan mechs outdamaged IS mechs in the majority of matches (also killed much more mechs in total). If you wish I can publish precise numbers, so you can draw your own conclusions.
I don't think performance is only related to personal skill. The big shift of competitive crowd to Clan side might also be an indicator.
