But as new player is new and very limited in resources can see your point be interesting to see what people theory craft for it. Find for friends that I have gotten to join they seem to do better with Medium/Heavy enough armor and weapons but still some ability to move well, but not to overwhelming like alot of uber fast lights and forget it on a low FPS PC.
Actually that might be another avenue to explore Drop deck VS PC (Low end and High End) both situations could see going entirely different routes.

The Spider and Raven are not going to contribute much in a brawl.

trebuchet (the only trial lrm mech... lrm sucks but when you play unknown unbasiced inner sphere mechs... i did successfully with my trebuchet too)
thunderbolt (slow and clumsy to my taste, no arm lasers, but nice and cool firepower)
banshee (an amazing power but sooo slow and clumsy)
spider (didn't manage to test)
and
trebuchet
thunderbolt
gryphon (my fastest brawler, guarded omega vs their desperate light rush with it)
quickdraw (didn't manage to test, should be a brawler similar to gryphon)

the clan trials are so bad
i would pick kit fox (bad loadout but still 1ll, 3 ams and ecm), stormcrow (meh loadout but still lpl+2mpl vomit and lbx), hellbringer (terrible load out, but still 2 ppc, 3 ml and ecm) and mad dog (way too low lrm ammo but still 2 lpl 2mpl)

I know the SDR and RVN wouldn't be good in a brawl, the so I guess it would be a good idea to replace the raven with a griffin.

Yes they are indeed terrible as the champions have been made by the old metas and customized from their stock loadouts. Clans are still using mostly tabletop loadouts which most don't transfer very well in this game
I'd avoid the dire as much as possible unless your whole team is bringing one they just are too situational on their own

The Crow trial is really the only viable trial. The Hellbringer is actually fun but there's no armor on it lol.

These are 30-minute matches - not a trivial investment of time.

couldn't agree more with this the less trials on the field the better. Preferably no trials is best people really need to realize how much of a hindrance trial mechs are especially on the clan side. The mechs are not optimized to their potential

I brought a few trial decks for fun in the past but I was carried by an 11 man team :3
