Yeah, you accidentally started a real discussion lol.

One serious point that you accidentally made- Many people see members of 228, etc, and just assume it's their comp guys...this isn't true at all. 228 and most of the larger, more competitive units have both comp-level teams and newbs, and everything in between. Learning to differentiate which you're facing can help a lot with these assumptions.

To bad these false assumptions are going to bring us a Group cap in group matches pushing this game backward years and repeating the same mistakes made back then.

Then more time and money wasted to revert it again.

Sad to watch another group/team focused game in the process of being ruined by solo-rambos and non-team players.

Correct you could be tier 2 and catch guys in (C) mechs, then again, there are a number of (C)s that have been part of handouts, so Ravens, Thunderbolts and a couple others may just be challenge participants.

You not heard?

Forums have said that if you hide your Tier your a cheater/exploiter.
If your Tier 1 your a cheater/exploiter.

If your better then anyone, your a cheater/exploiter.

Imagine the fun when everyone can see your Tier!

Shortly after the patch your going to have some pugtard complaining that he has to fight someone with a higher tier and that is why he lost. Going to have some pugtard complain that he cannot choose what tiers to fight. Every loss will be blamed on the lowest tier person on the team and the other team. Soon as someone sees they have lower tier people on their side they will DC.

This is going to be so much fun when this blows up in the players face!

You do know it is displayed on forums and ingame, right?

And aren't you the one that publicly stated that you will consider anyone T1 a cheater and exploiter and if they hide they are the very same?

Funny that.

While technically possible, it's very unlikely for any T2 to ever see a T4 outside of group queue given how the MM operates.

forums - hidden as default , ingame visible, for the player. (it can be turned off).
i didnt say, all T1 are cheaters, but all cheaters will be in T1.
i must say, you are the most sad men, in this forum, i ever read. So much negativity.
Do you take some pills for it ?

Forum Tier 1, Death Star post unlocked.

In game, not so much. I'm expecting Tier 3. Maybe I'll boat some lrms and work my way up to tier 2.

So, if members of high level comp teams aren't going to be the primary demographic in Tier 1, who is?

Well, this is easy. In order to best take advantage of the PSR's scoring system, a Tier 1 pilot will exhibit the following traits:

2) Plays a lot. Like, all the time. As in, when do you sleep?

PSR shouldn't have anything to do with how much you play. A player who was a awesome in March, but hasn't played a single game in 6 months could be tier 1. It's all about quality of those matches you do play.

Granted there is probably a minimum number of games to ramp a player up to tier 1, but other than that its just about scoring well with greater consistency than others.

My only concern is the lingering effect CW will have on the player placement. Keep in mind that it's still impacting player's PSR until tomorrow. Furthermore as far as we know, it's not going to be a retro-active fix meaning that by the time September 22nd rolls around, people still may be out of alignment.

This would only be the case if PSR was a bound integer range that scaled based on real vs expected score the way ELO did with real vs expected W/L. Otherwise PSR would inflate out of control given our current understanding of point gain/loss conditions.

If PSR is what I speculate it is, an unbound integer range, number of matches played will definitely have a huge impact on your Tier rating - to the point where it would be possible to be bumped up/down a tier based solely on the actions of other players.

You need a Forum Flag. We should start a petition to revive that whole Forum Contributor contest.

It's not displayed in match, it's displayed on the Home page, for your eyes only. Defaults on.
Forum is opt in, off by default.

To complain in match, they'd have to search your forum profile while waiting for the match to start.

You only get higher scores if you don't die. 12 mans stomping PUGs likely has that result, but it shouldn't have much effect.
If you die once, half of your score is gone.

Lawl. Screw that. I don't trust anyone on these boards behind the wheel of a game development studio.

The FCA was more an exercise in promoting positive posting habits and shining a spotlight on people who post things that are actually helpful and not ACH whine threads or 25 page "How to LRM boat" megathreads in the New Player Help forum. The in-game bling is just a plus.

I won mine by testing and detailing the order of operations and specific mechanics behind the heat system and heat perks, as well as writing a guide on the calculation of Salvage bonuses and how to maximize Salvage income. These boards don't see much of this kind of stuff these days.
