I watched all the online game play videos, they all show one map with the exception of the older video which shows a city. Now from what i can tell the new videos show a very thin long map which is well awful. Really hard to be tactical when you only need to look in 1 direction to see the enemy.
Is it just an test alpha map? Are the maps going to be more like the older city map that really does give you the sense of scale and sheer size of the mechs as they fight in the city knocking down and blowing apart buildings and etc.
I really hope you guys dont do what every other gaming company seems to do now. Make all kinds of promises showing unprecidented destruction, mechanics and etc while raking in the presales only to take a **** on your customers on release date. Example Battlefield 3.

I don't think it looked long and thin at all.
But yes, Russ has said that map is considered a small map and they'll be getting bigger from there.

I'm pretty sure we are just seeing small parts of these maps. The Devs have stated that the Frozen City map is relatively small, and the earlier map we saw is medium size (by their standards). The next is supposed to be much larger... but even the 'medium' size map seems quite big to me. If you look at all the battles we've seen on it, and the various screenshots, it appears to have a lot of different areas which lend themselves to battle - both close-in combat, and more ranged-weapon areas.

Russ says the next map will be about 6 times larger than the city map or frozen city map

Just the game videos is not a large source of information.
You should watch several of the interviews as well as read through a majority of the Dev information.
Lots of info out there if you take the time to find it.

I would think that at this point, they are more concearned about game mechanics and fundimental core convepts than they are about specifics like maps and such.
