Davion Will Never Take Pleione

The Clans were able to match (not exceed) a highly motivated Davion horde by drawing from 4 pools of players.
If PGI restricted the defense to Falcons only, they'd have been overwhelmed because there was no particular motivation for Falcons to care about a defend world when their units can simply press the Attack like always.

You allow all four clans, and unless Davion brings nothing but meta, we really don't have a chance.
You allow only Falcon, and we almost certainly would have won by attrition and ghost drops, since I barely saw any Falcons all night defending, except in the early hours for a little while. After that it was all Bears and Wolves.
I'm hoping the data Paul collects off this will help them to come to some sort of more balanced approach in the future, and I'm happy to keep helping him experiment in the meantime.

A big problem is that I think a lot of people are making/running alts for these events which, conversely, sandbags the bjesus out of it for one side or the other.
I'm glad the events are happening - I really am, it's better than the nothing we've had for CW. Just an idea that needs tightening.

That's not what I'm talking about. I'm talking about people who really should be brushing up on their skills in the pug queue before going into CW. Also, not using a joystick or steering wheel or whatever they were swaying back and forth with.

Highly motivated?
Well I didn't see that on the field.. When I dropped to attack Pleione as a contracted Davion.. What I saw was people standing arround, aiming headlessly, wondering what the flack they were even doing there..
I dropped two matches.. first, I tried to organise them, they didn't listen.. 48:12 stomp.. second.. again, they did nothing but try to snipe and stand around like target practice.. result? 48:3 jade stomp on the davions.. (we conldn't get PAST THE GATE on Boreal Vault)
That's bloody embarrasing..
So no.. they were not motivated at all..

Lack of knowing what the heck they're doing is a different matter entirely and it's not exclusive to Davion.

I dropped with 3 of my units members (one of them never played CW) and we were all grouped with other miscellaneous groups.
Good comms and plans gave us a win of 30-something vs 48. I didn't even get to use my last mech.
It's harder for anyone when some people on the team don't know what to do, but that's what chat and VOIP are for.
Give them directions and objectives, help them to work as a team with your group and things get much better.

And what to do when you give them directions and they just simply flat-out ignore them completely, or simply stand there like lamb to the sloughter?
This has happened to me many times, and I understand what Steelmesh is saying.. sometimes, the PUG's are just headless chickens..

When we were down a few members, even as low as 6, the pugs asked us our plans, we relayed to them, and most listened, and those matches we won.
It all comes down to good orders, and people being willing and capable of following those orders. Having good mechs and optimal loadouts of course helps a lot, but never underestimate a really good DC.
