I guess thank you PGI for thinking so highly of Davion to think we could take on all 4 clans.

Attack defense has always worked this way, this is nothing new really. Any IS group can defend any IS planet etc

K let me bring up a point here. There was ZERO incentive for any clan to participate other than throwing a wrench into someone else's reward. If you clamp down on who can attack/defend, then you really start hurting the factions with a low population count. Factions like FRR would be so screwed. Thats why you were seeing so many defenses. At that point its not a matter of skill but how many people can one faction cram into the queue.
So you have a faction that has a reward, who has an additional 20 tons, and is definitely motivated, on the flip side you have a faction that they KNOW they will be getting battles so people will flock. Thats why you were seeing so many defenses.

This... Or if you have an attack lane and no one is defending on the other side. You'll seek other avenues.
edited for Vlad's quote.

I like the concept but it needs to be faction vs faction or some other balancing facet.

If these contests have proven anything it's that one motivated faction is worth at least 2 and up to 4 unmotivated factions. I don't recall Davion being sufficiently outnumbered during their contest as to be ghost dropped on, so it really just came down to which faction(s) won the most games. And it wasn't a bad matchup, either. Some Dav teams won a lot, some didn't. The planet ended at, what, 40-something? Or did it just peak in the 40's? I logged off early.
Did CSJ manage to win their challenge? If going up against 4 Clan factions seems daunting, I can only imagine going up against 6 IS.

I didn't think the reward was achievable with such high IS turnouts, but hey, it's all about the fights. If the IS wants to wait in line and ghost drop, let them. We were getting plenty of fights with no wait time. If the IS didn't show up, I think the 4 mil C-bills would be a suitable reward for a dull night.

this is important.
The more events they have like these it will draw more interest.

Are you kidding me? 4 milion a low prize? You have to play 1 (as in onle single, just one time) CW match, and if the planet is won, you get 4 milion cbills, for a single CW match.. 30 minutes for 4 milion... that's not low..
Letting others participate is a shame, yes... but look at it this way.. IS and clans have common goals, so I see no reason to not let them band together..
On the other hand..
Yes, I expect Davion at least lost BIG TIME.. and here's why..
1) As a Davion-affiliate, playing from Europe, I could not attack the objective planet at all untill 17 PM sunday night.. before that, it was not "attackable" since it was deep in Jade Falcon space, and any attempt to organise Davion forces to take the planets leading up to Pleione was met with open laughter and a general wilingnes to sit on one's rear end.
When the planet became targetable, we launched an offensive.. mostly as pugs..
I REALLY tried to organise them, giving them ample advanced strategies and tactics... but we ended up not being able to GET PAST THE GATE ON BOREAL VAULT!
Half the team just stood there, despite CLEAR orders, and the other engaged into a sniping war over the gates they simply cannot win.. On the first matched, I tried to help and organise them.. we got stomped 48:12...
On the second drop, same map, same story... I simply quit and relinquished command... We got stomped 48:3... At this point I concluded that Davion is simply not fighting this battle, and does not want to win..
No wonder the Clans are stomping IS on all fronts..
I am dissapointed and will, when my contract is up, NOT BE extending a Davion contract for some time..
