Because Clan ACs did suck. They had slower projectiles, more projectiles per volley, and lower DPS than they have now.

Exactly. Now they don't. Thus, we can have dakkabuilds that make a Clan 'Mech work really, really well- and the UAC/10 is one of those.

Heck, I used to use them to decent effect before the changes. They're clearly better at this point.

Their projectile velocity was never adjusted since day 1 of the Clans, for the record.

They seem to fire faster because the time between rounds in a volley got reduced. UAC20 takes only 0.3 seconds to fire. That's better than any laser out there. You could probably squeeze off a double tap faster than IS LPL beam duration.

That's not velocity though. Velocity is the speed that each pellet flies through the air, for example 650 m/s on the [U]AC/20.

My bad. I wasn't here for that patch. I was getting that info second hand.

Keep in mind that once the projectiles are in the air, you can't alter their aim point like you can with lazers. Also keep in mind that the IS versions have a single slug, putting all their damage into a single hit location. The Clan versions are more likely to spread their damage over multiple hit locations, lessening the overall evectiveness.

I took your build and I fixed it.

Now you don't have to worry about running out of ammo, not that you had to worry too much before.

This is how I run 1 of my DWFs.

DakkaDire is super fun, but I actually prefer 2xGauss 2xLPL 4xERML "one hit wonder".
84 damage pinpoint alpha.
0 ghost heat.

Yes, you can only alpha twice, but on multiple occasions I was able to kill 2 fresh mechs with 2 alphas. It's a feat no other mech in the game can accomplish.

been a quadUAC10 DWF pilot since when DWF did hit the game. gone thru several build optimizations. Now with the AC10 ammo buff, im able to carry 6CERSL for backup AND for added DPS in cold maps or when i really need that close target out the match. 70 alpha + 40 in the next click, all in a split second.

the gigaspike whale is still better at snapshots, while the 4xUAC10 is the king of armor shredding and suppressive fire. fast targets are still tricky to leg with burst fire clan UACs. the best targets are heavies and assaults. the screenshake doesnt let em to pinpoint you when they're shooting you.

also, i load all my ammo on the arms, with a ton more in the right arm (nascar CCW anyone)

the 4UAC5 crab is still better at shooting faster targets and runs cooler, but a slow target against a quadUAC10+6CERSL dies in less than 3 seconds. if the target does twist, will survive with a lot of armor gone.

My cheese build of choice when i do really want to carry hard, the other one is the 2UAC10 ERPPC warhawk prime or the 2UAC10 3SRM6 warhawk B.

oh and against torso twisting targets, go for the legs.
