They changed how early adopter awards work this time around. It used to be a scale where the rewards diminished the longer you waited. This time you had a short window all or nothing. I didn't have the money at the time but I would have gotten the 80 dollar package. Without the extrasnit didn't seem as worth it.

This was the boat I was in. Also the fact that the early adopter rewards included a ton of mechs (8 variants for the top tier) in addition to all of the cosmetic stuff left a very sour taste in my moth since I only had the money to buy the Wolfhound at the time, even though I wanted all of them. They should have left the extra variants of the R1 pack as a reward for buying the top tier of both packs, not part of the early adopter rewards. That way you still get some awesome value for ordering early (4 extra variants) but you still also get something cool if you want to get the top tier but have to wait a bit (4 other variants). Would be a much better way to approach it, that way both early adopters and people who buy both packs get cool rewards without the whole "early adopter or nothing" feel.

It depends on the reward really.

Cosmetics - No
Mech Variants - Yes

It's why I didn't buy R2 in the end, I didn't have the money to buy it before the early adopter reward ran out. When I did have the $80 later I decided I didn't really want to buy it and gets 75% of the mechs. Less than 75% if I also count the missed R1 variants. So that $80 went to another game instead where I didn't feel like I was getting less value. I might pick up another pack in the future if I have the cash to spend at the time before the early adopter reward runs out though.

As with some others, I too thought about buying the IIC pack if only for the Hunchback IIC alone. Then I noticed I missed the deadline by just a few days and felt like I wasn't getting my moneys worth anymore. As someone said, I felt punished for not acting NOW NOW NOW.

Then I decided against purchasing the pack and am now just waiting to see how the mechs turn out (and for the eventual c-bill release).

I am starting to feel if i don't buy it at the start i might as well buy it for cbills. I been thinking about getting the mauler. Then I start seeing everything I missed out on and think maybe i should just wait for the next pack.. It's a little better for the IS side but for the clan packs the 4th variant been having lots different hard points.

Are you still buying these late in the release?

I don't understand your point. It's not as if PGI doesn't give us weeks if not months to buy for the bonuses. This was the first "pack" I went a la Carte (not a fan of our Bl Knight or the Crab... to much laser for me.). I know if i want something and if I can afford what I want. I am not punished for making a choice, and neither is anyone else.

That's a good move. Mauler was very questionable anyway. But it's always a good idea to grab at least one of the first month early reward bonuses, I think those are pretty nice. Getting the Hunch IIC early bonuses in comparison were pretty much a no-brainer for a lot of players, I think, as well.

So I only got the Crab pack first month as well. And if I'm completely honest, I just wanted that miniature leopard dropship.

I knew from the moment they announced what mechs were in the R2 pack that the only one I wanted was the Mauler, and there's no benefit to preordering A La Carte. So no big deal. 1 mech that's essentially a hero, plus 2 standard, and 3 mechbays isn't too bad for $35. And by the time I get all these mastered, the 4th variant will be out for cbills, and I might actually be able to afford it.

Don't get early adopter extra's for buying al a carte so if you wanted the mauler with extra's you would have to buy the others as well

Exactly. Unfortunately, that wasn't listed on the Resistance 2 sales page. Further, not only do I not get early adopters rewards, it seems I don't even get the 3 Maulers today.
