You say that, but over the weekend I was in solo queue when I saw JagerXII (sp?) show up on the other side. I'm not great, but not a scrub either and I gave my team a heads up that he was the most dangerous player over there. We actually executed reasonably well. I pulled top damage at just over 700 and 3 kills, but we lost (something like 12-7). I never even SAW Jager the entire match and when the score screen popped up he had about 700 dmg and, I think 5 or 6 kills.

I've been killed by Proton on several occasions but never the opposite. I killed Twinky Overlord for the first time ever over the weekend and helped my team win the match. Screenshot moment. I'm telling you, some of these players are just on a different level altogether.

First of all, sorry for my english, is obviously not my first languange.

And yes, given the usual preferences of most players to customize their own mech as they choose, this can be taken as a crazy idea. Most people play MWO just to get "their hands" on their desired mech, to make and test interesting builds.

But well, if you want the population of CW to increase and leave its current crisis, this may be a way.

What do you want people? Lesser waiting times to play or to pilot your desired mech specifically as you want? Given the current CW situation, we can´t have both ! Or yes, we can have both and continue with the same troubles !

Also, unless you are in a great unit or have the uncommon good chance to play with coordinated and skilled pugs, you know playing Community Warfare matches is commonly unfair...So, unfortunately, playing fair matches in CW is for now not a priority, the main thing is to draw more people to it.

I would not mind leaving my customized mechs in trade for quicker game matches in CW. As it has been said here, skill is really important when playing this game. If this works (among other ideas that could be implemented to renew CW) maybe, in the future, and after CW builds a robust and stable population of players, we can go back to what we have now.

This "crazy" idea to play CW only with stock mechs just shows that the solution to make more players, new ones, veterans or experts play what could have been the best side in MWO is far from being achieved. I think the idea is not that crazy, but somehow desperate, since now I see CW in danger of completely disappearing. Just watch how certain events drain completely its population...

The idea might work, and some others around too, but a good, new or reformed system that draws more players to participate in a diminishing part of MWO is deeply urgent.

In comparison to regular games, the few people that keep playing CW know they would not get the same experience, complexity or group stability from regular matches.

I really hope CW gets to be rescued somehow soon, as for me and others is still the most appealing part of the game. Maybe the more time an eficient solution to fix it is posponed, the more we wil all see fade away until its extinction. Hope to be wrong on that.

For stock mode 3025 Innersphere, it played well for about 10 years or so, from GEnie EGA MPBT 3025 to MPBT Solaris to the short stint EA MPBT 3025.

It would be interesting if they did a Stock only week, no mech lab, and everyone had access to all stock 3025 mechs as an event.

Thing was tested to the death countless times.
We played it and we know that Stock is far more balanced and fun. That turn this twitch shooter actually to "thinking man shooter" that is supposed to be since the beginning.

.

lol wut? I'm sorry but the mechlab stays. Mechwarrior and the mechlab are connected at the hip and stock only as the perfect solution to balance issues is not a panacea.

This is not a twitch shooter but it has some twitch shooter elements.

If TT is so balanced and fun then might I suggest a Battletech Starter Kit or Megamek or that new game.

As I said this is a bit crazy, and I am sure many of you may rage at me for it. But please hear me out.

What if CW was stocks only?

*ducks under desk*

Now please calm down, and let me tell you why.

*sits back up*

Okay. Well first off it would be more welcoming to new players. Instead of them taking Trials while others are taking their custom builds, EVERYONE will have to pick from stock builds that are common to their chosen Faction. (In their faction's colors.) This would help even the playing field.

Since you would be picking mechs most common to your Faction, it will help make Factions stand out a bit more from each other and create some level of immersion.

To help with the Clan v IS balance, lets look more to how it was done in lore. Numbers. The IS would have the full drop deck and weight it has now. The Clans will have a drop deck of three and a reduced weight limit.

What do you think so far?

I don't think I would mind playing Stock, but I would mind having just three mechs, when Clans usualy got 5 (a star) as compared to the IS 4 (Lance)

Maybe give both IS and CLAN same tonnage, or IS slightly higher, but let clans bring 5 mechs.. this would force them to bring less assualts and heavies, and bring more lights..

Also, if we would play only stock, then we MUST have the options to save mech loadouts and we MUST have a "revert to stock" button in the mechlab..

Ultimately, the STOCK PLAY could be a game mode or a special que, I don't think alot of people would like to play only stock on their uber tricked-out mechs..

The Clans would usually bid their numbers down for less waste and more honor. They did not ALWAYS do sets of five.

In the Clans a single mech is called a "point". Three points vs one lance is pretty lore friendly.

Also said in that other thread, I think that Clan roleplaying should be encouraged through rewards. PGI has repeatedly said they're not doing 10v12, so toss that, but I think PGI could reward Clan players in Clan-like ways, such as huge bonuses for Solo Kills, no bonuses for Assists, less reward for Brawling, etc.

No one really want to take out mechlab and Full Custom games, even I, but Stock Mode should have its place in MWO as in all previous incarnation of Mechwarrior Games.

They stayed many things and did other.
In face of disaster that CW actually is, they may come to the right BT way eventually. They cooperation with devs of new BT game is somehow promising too, that they will turn more towards BT then CS and CoD twitch teen crowd.
But anyway, really correct number is not 10v12, it is 10v16.

lol, you may want to chill out

It may end up as checkbox in private games but as another mode its too much of a novelty to be its own bucket. Even just 3025 would be a balance headache for PGI, hense why they might make it a checkbox in private games but never another actual bucket.

Again same thing. You just don`t know what you are talking about.
3025 Stock is balanced enough out of the box, far better then custom ever been or ever will be.
To perfect polish it needs just really minor polish, basically bringing back some BT stats that was changed in endless PGIs fighting with meta.
The problem why PGIs somehow resist to Stock Mode is be cause its just not fit very well in their business model and how they set the game. Stock players would not bay any upgrades for example, but they would bay more mechs for sure, you have at least 2 eras to cover. If there will be only 3025, all Clans meks and some IS meks would not participate at all, be cause they are from different era with too advanced tech. And so on, little things like that. I don`t think is matter of buckets, introduction of CW was not a disaster for MM, and you got 2 buckets that separate existence do not really have much sense, Skirmish and Assault, its just too similar thing that don`t bring almost nothing to game play, but Stock?> Yeah that thing would bring something really NEW, and is like the only thing that would please old founders of this game abd would bring back all BT fans that escaped this teeneger twitch wagon long ago.
But Even Russ said recently that thing is open after Stock Button Public Test lets say.

In this very moment the MWO has very little in common with TT Battletech.
Pinpoint convergence vs random hit locations
Different armor and structure values (quirks)
Different weapon damage, heat and ammo count
Different hitbox size
Different critical damage system
Different weapon mechanics (lasers hitting multiple components)

The person that claims that stock TT mechs are balanced in MWO clearly has no idea about MWO mechanics.

The person that not have idea is you, how about you read the damn thread and try to get that this was tested, played by me and many others already and it works. MWO just instantly turn to be Battletech game.
But you have right about one thing. Quirks in they current form indeed destroyed balance in Stock Game Play.

I played stock mech mondays... I'm calling you out on your crap. 3025 stock mechs, do you know what was brought? The Raven 4x, the Catapult K2, 4G with the quirks, the King Crab would be the only assault.

Tested by whom, and don't give me 'us'. Even on SMM we saw a meta if you will.

Indeed The Quirks destroyed balance in Stock, that I already said. And is a reason why SMM hanged out its activity.
So probably you was too late around to catch the feeling and all you smelled was crap instead.
But yeah minor polish would be required as I said.
Quirks off, BT weapons stats and double TT ammo count. And that`s it. Mayby GH rising to two for PPC, if feared Awesome and K2 would be too strong. Feared Awsome and K2, those it not sound ridicule?
BT weapons stats would calm down AC20 and rise ML meks. That`s the problem you are refering to, but you are not aware of the reasons of this problem. Problem exist only be cause PGI changed weapon stats for fight their meta.
Besides I have none of the meks that you mentioned to be Stock Meta, yet I was always one of the best around.

And yeah I will give "us" be cause we Battletech fans, we are many.

Us doesn't imply anything about MWO or the majority of the player base, guess who else plays TT - me. No I was there from the start - SMM, ask Tiger.

So you want to balance the game around TT, its impossible. The reason being is because we can aim and not have to depend on a dice roll, the Awesome sucks because of the hit box - why because we can aim. In TT it didn't matter what the mech looked like. None of what you state will help balance CW See also Stormcrow... You also remove the customization - which is what makes the Mechwarrior series great.

EDIT: I also love it how you insult probably one the more respected people in the Community (Kin3ticX, not that he needs me to defend him). I haven't seen a help guide from you, hell I haven't even seen you in a drop. So lay off with the personal attacks eh?

571 I suppose that is many.

This game is already balanced around TT, just not close enough. Look up left corner for a hint.

But Awesome is one of the Stock Meta Mechs that you whine about?> so what are you whining about? > its too strong or too weak? Yeah you can aim, yet mechs steal spread damage quiet well, if you don`t have access to 60 PPFLD Meta of Custom Mode.
If you would read close enough, no one wants to close your mechlab.
