So how would one build a mech like that with 2 Missile hardpoints?

dual LRMs? Dual Streaks?

I'm going to say streaks and then laser arm and torso as well...

Anti-light personnel?

You're probably going to see more builds with streaks, SRMS, or ASRMS, than LRMs. For the space, they tend to be more bang for your buck, and combining Streaks with lasers might let it effectively assume the role of light hunter.

As for me, I like being able to engage targets whether I have LoS or not. I currently use a LRM rack on at least a couple of my builds. I wouldn't commit to a 2nd one on a mech like the Nova, though. There are enough maps that make LRMs a practical non-factor that it wouldn't be worth it with the Nova's already limited pod space.

Looking at it, the nova has about 16, 15.5 tons to work with, that means you can put on Streak 12 with 5 Mediums and 4-5 tons of ammo along with a DHS if you wish to take 4 tons of ammo.

Not the best thing, but looks pretty fun considering you also have jump jets.

3 tons of ammo is plenty and will allow DH, CAP and TC1 or just DHS. The CAP is super great with Cheetos, because folks always follow them when they pop out in the middle of a crowd. Good FS pilots know what to do not all Cheetos.

Lasers are the weapon of choice.

12ERSL has the range, but SPLs will demolish what you hit.

When you think about it, a single arm loaded with lasers is enough. It helps with alpha strikes, but the heat created means they don't come often. Adding 2x SSRM6's will make this a better option for certain situations.

And it is possible to load 6x SPL's and 2x SSRM6's with 2t of ammo.

12 SPLs is hilariously fun to play with c.c It just requires some serious patience.

2 missiles are pretty useless in the current meta. You're trading a lot of medium / long range firepower for slightly higher firepower at very close range. SRMs are a good way to increase firepower if you don't have enough hardpoints to just bring 8 or 10 or 14 lasers, but the Nova does have enough hardpoints to do that.

And it doesn't have enough speed to make Streaks a very good idea either. Besides, legging light mechs isn't exactly difficult with 12 lasers, so I don't see why anyone with a modicum of skill would go for Streaks on a Nova.

All in all... the LRM Nova is going to be the new LRM King Crab in the underhive.

The missile hardpoint is in the arm. You know, where the Nova keeps all of its guns.

Missiles are super bad right now, but they have at least some utility when taken in huge quantity, i.e. 6 ASRM6 on a CPLT/MDD is enough to take down an assault if you have a friend who can soak damage. Six LRM5 is I guess sorta okay in solo queue games. But two missile hardpoints isn't enough to do anything unless you've got triple fire rate quirks like the HBK-4SP or Huggin.

So no, I don't think two missile hardpoints are going to help the Nova much, especially when one of them is taking up an arm slot.

With mechs like the nova without Endo or FF to play with, you really have to build as efficiently as possible, and there is the problem again for missiles.

For that 4 tons invested in streak (L+Ammo) you can do 12 random damage all over sombody at 360M
Or 1 LRM10 and 1 1/2 ton of ammo to deal 10 damage shotgunned everywhere.

Or you can load 4 SPL and put 24 damage where you want it twice as fast, but with a little drop in range.
Or you can load 4 ERML and put 28 damage @ 405m with great range, but alot of heat.
Of you can load 8 SL and put 40 damage @ 200m.

When you look at the tonnage investment, delay to fire, mounds of ECM, the need to run 1 more ton for CAP or TAG, the advantage still goes to lasers.

Sadly, Nova is a poor platform for both lasers and Missiles due to design, gorilla arms, huge upscale issues and its need for 100% exposure to fire.

Its not an ideal missle boat.
