It's a classic close range mech, it comes with medium lasers and SRMs as stock. But the Infotech quirks make it a huge liability in a brawl. Other mechs are basically invisible when you're on a map like Forest Colony. They see you, but you don't see them.

For a light mech, constantly making turns and hiding behind terrain, this is absurd. It means you can't really brawl with this mech. If anything, I would have expected short range light mechs to have fantastic sensors at close range and relatively bad sensors at long range, to emphasize their role as fighters instead of scouts. That's role warfare.

But the JR7-D's infotech quirks makes it extremely difficult to use in chaotic situations, where it's supposed to thrive.

Maybe the JR7'd is balanced compared to certain other light mechs, but I'm getting brutalized by bigger mechs without the same sensor penalties. I get killed by assault mechs I never even see coming untill they're right in my face. Stealth assault mechs, catching my light mech by surprise.

Not working as intended. Please reconsider.

Not only that, they are the same as the ACH with 6SPL ECM. When did the Jenner become such a good mech that it's on par with an ACH?

ALSO, the JR7-K got -30 twist angle??!!?!? WHY??!?!

All the Jenners where designed (by my knowledge) in lore to be striker mechs. Not necessarily Scouts. I haven't checked out the new stuff yet, but if they gave it sensor buffs, it would seem out of place to me.

I'll see about replying more sometime when I'm able to jump on the PTS...

Lights all have a base 800 range sensor. Even if you cut that in half on a night map with the gamma all the way down you shouldn't be getting surprised by assault mechs. That's just silly.

And yes the Jenner isn't designed as a scout like the Locust is. If you read the post about what they're doing with mechs you're probably know why it's sensor quirks are so bad. If they buff your Jenner D's sensors they have to take something away somewhere else.

So do you want to be a brawling light or an information light? You can't have both and be good at both.

personally I wouldn't even be bad if it's a 99% twist angle reduction considering lore wise it had no twist... granted this isn't ballanced but I always thought that no torso mechs in lore should have a bad twist rate/ angle...

There isn't such a thing as a pure information light, especially since you don't need anything but sight to get the information you need on enemy teams.

If you want an information light, it should have something like 2-5% less firepower than a fighting light. That's the maximum amount of sacrifice that makes sense to get infotech quirks.

I haven't looked at many quirks in this revision yet, but am I the only person thinking things seem kind of random? Is there a post somewhere with overarching ideas regarding the goals of the rebalance?

Also - ok if they want to create scouts - ok - creat it - but dont make all lights be same crap!!!!!! lets 1 of shassi will be the scout with quirks for it. any else is brawlers atc. and if i whant, i must have possibility to change them. give the scout everything to scout then - sensors range + 200%. instant targeting data. target decay 10 sec. improved uavs more then 1. improverd sesmic sensor range +200%. giros. hill climb. atc!!!! everything! if you dont give it fire power!!!!!!!! structure and JJs.
let it be real to do it - or its going to be like we see it now - run in to the enemy face and die there fast - 11\12 then!!!!!!!GG

the balace goal was - give all mechs a tiers - scout browler...atc....so they must make it more correct - why they ruin all?

The Jenner's sensor quirk is stupid because it takes a second for your sensors to detect an enemy mech that is right in front of you. Fine, give it some negative sensor quirks, but at long range, not short.

I think you already have that through lights like the Locust 1V and the Spider's. Spiders in particular are nerfed HARD in the PTS due to their lack of significant hard-points. So they SHOULD be able to make it up as being one of the best scout lights in the game. Even the Locust, while a glass cannon, at least is a scout that can still act as a striker / skirmisher with its high numbers of hard points for its tonnage. (even better then spiders.)

I get the intent of the system. Because Jenners ARE traditionally "strikers" not scouts. They are meant to flank, and attack the enemies that are all ready engaged with others for massive alpha's and back attacks before fading away.

Spiders are NEVER going to be able to compete with Jenners in a raw 1v1 fight. So they have to find SOME WAY of differentiating Jenner's from spiders. And since Jenners are already both mobile, and have a VERY nice weapons profile, it stands to reason that spiders should be typically the better dedicated scout.

if they want to create it (really don't know why) the info light - it must have all tech and sensors!
- sensors range + 200%. instant targeting data. target decay 10 sec. improved uavs more then 1. improverd sesmic sensor range +200%. giros. hill climb. atc!!!! or its not info tech - its powerless trash

10 second targeting decay? Well, LRMs would love that one. (No. Would be way too long. But I get your point, they should have better sensor abilities.)

I think that sensor buffs fit the Spider more than the Jenner. The Jenneris a striker mech, and should have better close range sensors over longer ranges, possibly with poor retention/decay as well (overall) due to their (stock I shall admit) close range payloads.

yeah - better sesnsors atc. or - its not a INFO light . So if its not - give the fire power quirks to it!
i mean - ALL info tech and sensors OR no infotech at ALL!!!!! stop makin powerless trash from good browling lights! i like to see different lights - and plz dont do the crossplatformers - less power more sensors!!! - less power like no quirks or bad movement and +100m to sesors - its not the price!

sorry, this mech is a raider/striker by lore, no Scout. the quirks are absurd. similarily stoopid idea to a infotech panther.
a raider is a raider is a raider. the variants are loadout changes of the same base to change damage potential in lore.
no one expects to go scouting in them. wont happen.

thats one of the most negative nerfs i have seen so far.
