This bug has been around for a while now, but it still hasn't been fixed. Maybe the devs just aren't aware of this issue.
Basically, 9 times out of 10, when you use override shutdown and overheat, even by just 1%, the head component instantly blows up, killing the player.
Surely this is not how the override is supposed to work.

Not a bug, if mech is over 100% heat and in override for more than 2 or so seconds, a certain amount of damage is applied to the internals of a randomly selected component.
Components with a high amount of internal structure survive this, only turning orange to red, components with little internal structure - arms, and sadly the head - are blown out.
Using override has a high risk for a reason, and the chance for a head blowout is certainly not at 90%.

But the head explodes instantly when the heat goes over the limit, there's no 2 sec delay.
And sometimes you explode even if the heat is already back under 100.

Are you sure it's 9 out of 10? Not an exaggeration at all? Because i'm fairly certain my experience with override is different.

how about testign and posting a vid form testing ground? If its true you can reproduce this.
However, overriding always cased some serious damage when exceeding 100% heat significantly.
Without overriding you can have up to 110% before damage applies.
Also, did you had ammo in the head?

Do you keep ammo in your head?
