I would feel wasteful trying a larger mech for my first run, so the Jenner. While the Founder's mecha feel free in some ways, you must remember that the resources that build them come from somewhere, and that's from the backbreaking labor of the Liao workers. Use your tonnage sparingly.

He becomes an appendage of the machine, and it is only the most simple, most monotonous, and most easily acquired knack, that is required of him. Hence, the cost of production of a workman is restricted, almost entirely, to the means of subsistence that he requires for his maintenance, and for the propagation of his race.

I am really suprised by the amount of Cat fans, for me a Centurion or Jenner for scouting duties.

Too bad for you Daviots it doesn't come with autocannon. At least not in the prime configuration . . .

. . . Then again, how you pipe ammo tthrough those sissy arms from what qualifies as the torso? . . .

Lots of Catapults out there. Is everyone going to hang back & lob LRMs, or is the Catapult going to be the base chassis for some amazing Mech-Lab redesigns? I'm in the latter category. :)

Paint a big pretty AFFS bullseye on the side and it's straight out of Daviot doctrine. Autocannon and missileboats all the way . . .

The stock Catapult is only half a missile boat, and when it's reserves of LRM ammo run dry it still has four medium lasers with which to engage the enemy, and enough armour and jump jets to have good prospects for survival. Versatile and practical, a Capellan machine to the reactor core.

Watching the gameplay trailes again, the Catapult-K2 energy boat crops up a lot. Is that contributing to its popularity?

The K2 has been around for awhile. Although, I must admit that it's popularity appears to have steadily increased over time. Back in the day, though, if I wanted PPCs on a heavy mech, I was digging out my Warhammer or Marauder . . .
