most people saying this thing is better then the orion and probably just as good if not better then timberwolf- and yet you think it needs strong quirks...

Half the reason why I do not bother half the debates on the forum and in stead throw history lessons of roman numerals and stuff...

you are missing my point. im just saying the hero will need better quirks then the other variants to make up for the inferior speed, not the other 75T mechs. its a pay only mech so it needs to be the same level as any variant you can get for c bills to make it worth it, and that doesn't mean it needs to be pay to win it just needs to justify the price tag. at the moment its only unique feature is it can zombie with a laser in the head that's about it.

most other mechs do not have that good of quirks to make up for it.

On top of that: Doesn't the Marauder BH2 already make up for it's slightly worse speed with superior firepower and hardpoints?

I thought the Bounty Hunter was a TIMBERWOLF hero? On BTWIKI it says that the Bounty Hunter used several mechs, but mostly the Timberwolf?

the Bounty Hunter has used many Mechs, the timeline relevant one is a Marauder, they used the correct (3044 refit) build as stock for the hero, the Bounty Hunter does get a Timber Wolf, but does not have it yet in timeline.

I never wanted or expected to get the TRO Marauder.. but this just doesn't look right.

If you chopped the arms and legs off, I couldn't tell you in a million years what mech it was. Possibly even if you just chopped the arms off.

It rather needs the centre-mounted gun.

Nice to see all the fans opening their wallets again. I myself don't mind paying the $55 for it - looks great. BUT when is the release date for Cbills and MC?

This is a repeat of the Urbie where the release date remains TBD

What is there To Be Determined??? JUST ANNOUNCE A DATE

I have bought every pack since I found this game including the Urbie. You can get away with it once. But this is going too far.

PLAY FOR FREE is a lie and it is being reinforced here. As I said I don't mind paying for the pack, but I do mind that other players cant buy it for CBills later.

REALITY CHECK:
There are 252 active mech variants at the moment and 32 pending delivery. Total of 284 for a game that is still not ready for release on Steam!

We have gone from buying a game that is fully working off the shelf to:
Buying a mech pack and waiting for release (incl $500 Gold mechs - remember those?), to
Buying a mech pack that is not available for Cbills (Urbie), to
Buying a mech pack when another mech pack is not delivered yet, to
Buying a mech pack that is not available for Cbills when other 2 other mech packs are not delivered yet.

And the game is STILL not fully functional because of limited resources at PGI??

Wake up people... This is greed and we are feeding it. TBD REALLY???

I'm sorry if I sound rude - but how long do you think we can still be fans? Announce a date for the rest of the community.

I remember the days when I could buy a MechWarrior game for around $50-$60 just like any other game... I would have access to an awesomely driven campaign and could play multiplayer with my friends... Then I remember expansion packs and "mech-packs" that had like 10-20 'mechs for $20 and I remember how upset people became.

Now look at where we are.

I could spend $55 on a single variant, holy shazbot... I could get a full game for that! I could get a 200+ hour game for that much (The Witcher 3).

You are right, we are feeding their greed and we are telling them that this is an acceptable business model. This will only continue and worsen as people keep buying into this. Demand more for your hard earned money people! This is getting ridiculous.

I will try to hold out, I will attempt not to give in and get this thing because they have control of one of my favorite IPs. Dammit I miss the days of real MechWarrior games.

is there at least a sliver of chance that the BH hero has the engine cap increased to 300? at 275 - if it doesn't get some crazy durability quirks, but even if - it's a walking death trap.

Sure wish PGI would release mechs 1 by 1 like the old days. 4 Variants for MC and C-bills and a Hero later on. Vindicator was the last to do this. I'd love to buy this but there are a few things PGI needs to address first and foremost...

Honestly, I prefer the one-at-a-time deal. I don't have to squirrel away $80 if I want the Assault mech in a mech. Add to this the fact that PGI is starting to run out of mechs.

Maybe if it's set up as a long-range beast, it'll be okay, and it'll have to be as even KGCs will be outrunning it to the front.

Very awesome! Didn't expect to see the Marauder in any BT game ever, so very pleased to see this iconic mech on the battlefield soon. The design is pure awesome. I couldn't have wished for any better!

HOWEVER: I never bought any a la carte mechs, because I find the price too high. Sadly the same goes for this package. There is no need to pay $20 just for early access and $40 to get a special version just isn't worth it to me. There are a lot of extras that come with the packages (more so than there are for al la carte mechs) but that doesn't warrant the price tag for me.

The other letdown is the engine cap of 275 for the Hero. I know it's easier to base the engine cap on a formula so that there is no arguing as to why and such, but 275 is just too low.

If the Resistance III wave consists of other unseen mechs just like: Stinger/Wasp/Valkyrie, Pheonix Hawk, Crusader/Warhammer/Rifleman, Marauder II i'll buy top tier. No questioning that!

Seems like we won't be getting special geometry on pack mechs anymore. (there wern't any in the last 2 mech packs they announced)

Which is too bad because the cost is the same, even though we are now getting less out of it; just a unique camo and 30% Cbill boost now. I hope this isn't a trend for future packs as well. Limited edition mechs that has a geometry difference to any other mechs is the reason a lot of people buy these.

They would have had a great opportunity to add a more enclosed cockpit as the unique geometry.

I don't care for the cockpit (the enclosed one should have a bad visibility), but I do like your redesigned arms.

Yes, PGI, please do a special geometry Marauder for the $40 pack!

Eh, you could completely viably play for free. I've only spent money on a handful of Hero mechs, some paint and war horns (before PGI gave me 9 for playing :).

yes and no it has 8 hard points the others have 7 one in the head which limits it to a small or medium laser and one in the side torso the rest are in the arms so if you louse the arms you are stuffed, the others can bout weapons in the side torso including ballistics or even some missiles. the 5m is a bit weak but the other two are way better. I would beat that the arms on the bounty hunter will be buffed.

True, but the point is that when you bought those previous titles they had full campaigns and you had access to all the Battle'Mechs and equipment, no real pay walls to speak of. If you wanted to play Multiplayer you were only limited by yourself or the server rules. That and they had more game modes that were fun, like CTF.

I get that I could grind away for c-bills, but I don't want the MW franchise to become that or some kind of cash cow with no comprehensive continuation of the story.

I will probably end up getting the damn marauder just because I'm a MW nerd and this is the one IP I can't help myself with.

Why PGI, why?

At first I was like:

yeha looks greta, should buy.

Then I was like: Oh wait, with the current quirkening 3/4 MAD's would anyways be dead money. No thx I wait for them being for c-bills.

Before I can not see a proper balance coming I am just not having the motivation to put money into dead chassis I will never play.

truly sry because that are finally some very sexy chickenlegs with real arms for the IS.

Damn.

Much as I love the 3025 stuff, and the original Unseen, I don't think PGI has done enough to warrant me spending an additional $55 on them. Especially not right now when the Great Rebalancing is in progress.

$55 is more than a triple-A game's release price worth of cash. For four variants of a - admittedly long-awaited - 'mech.

I hate to say it, but I think I'll be sitting this one out; and that sucks, because I'd really love to pilot one :(

Keep in mind it's only a 75 ton mech. You'll still need to stuff in DHS and armor. My guess would be that this thing will run a bit like a fat, slow Nova.

Off by $4.99... You got 'em there!

I think the point Dawnstealer is making is that it is a lot for a developer to ask for when releasing minimal content as compared to other developers.

P.S. I think I'll save up that $55 from this sale and spend it on a pre-order for Fallout 4, thanks for linking an awesome title!
