PGI has struggled provided us new maps.

If we could make maps with tools provided by PGI, what type of map(s) would you create and why?

I would like to create a mech production map. Perhaps have some moving cars or building parts that could be blown up. I would create this type of map because it could be used as a template for missions.

Problem is they dont have any tools to make maps. They're drawing each one up in a 3rd party highend 3d program. Then they're painting them.

Well, first of all, I'd place a giant, bright, blinding sun in the face of the attackers that renders thermal vision useless. Then I'd place 500 foot tall 2d trees everywhere so that the attackers can't see anything with thermals off, either. Then I'd force them to walk through choke points where defenders can be set up above them raining lasers down on their backs. Then I'd crank the heat up to about 110 degrees.

Oh, and once that's done, I'd set up the drop zones so that the dropships can shoot mechs that are attacking the objectives with their 12 ER large lasers constantly.

I call it "Vitric Taiga."

Free to plays like this tend to have zero mod or map tools. You run into silly issues like should players get paid cbills if they play on custom maps. Will mappers make silly maps that are over in 2 min and break the economy? Also, without a server browser and a server console I dont see how map rotation can be handled.

I see the allure in all this. Games like Tribes I, II had excellent mods and mappers but then you take that same game and make it FtP (hirez.... cough) and take away the map tools and we run into serious problems.

I think the next logical step here is to get PGI to pay cbills in private games. Maybe its impossible, I dunno.

I have created my own numerous threads on this but to rehash.

I understand PGI does not have the money or the time to review every map the fans will create. Most of these maps will be pure kaka

However Living Legends have proven there are those fans who have the skills to create awesome maps.

IF PGI where to use a SKL kit I am sure web sites would pop up where fans would want to show off their creations.

Eventually those with REAL skill will get noticed and remarked upon. Those maps could then be moved to the test server where the fans could test them for as long as needed. Have a voting system. Those that get voted high could then be reviewed by PGI. At most PGI would be reviewing one map every other month.

Top map of the month give them a cockpit item or some MC.

Again those with REAL skill will get noticed and noted for creating quality. Those who keep posting crap will just get ignored.

I would definitely take out the pebbles that can cause a 100 ton mech to come to a full stop.

I would like to see an island archipelago map, interior map like a giant cavern and a rolling hills map. Then add dynamic weather.

CW I would create a some less MOBA lane style maps like HPG with a defensive perimeter and drops on the outside instead.

we would make a map called K-town, slum like coast suburban terrain, full of salty water and many many boards that have broken dreams written on it or just hate messages.

I'd like a flat map. None of that chokepoint stuff.
