i was running this build

and i was dog fighting a ECM kit fox, but i could not target him untill i switched to counter mode..

is this normal, douse AP not work wile your under ECM?

ps, i had a red dorito it just would not lock..

It's one or the other. Running ECM disables equipped BAPs. Running ECM in counter nullifies localized BAP.

Basically ECM with BAP is useless except for speeding up your missile locks. <VOID>

BAP doesn't speed up your missile locks, just target data.

Please stop spreading that lie; AP does nothing for missile lock speed. Only Artemis and Tag (and Narc?)


AP with ECM is largely useless. You get the extra sensor range, but not the extra counter range, still only the ECMs 180m. They cannot counter and disrupt simultaneously.

My misake. So its even more useless together.

There is also some difference between IS and Clan AP, IS BAP has a feature Clan AP does not so IS BAP is stronger. I forget what it is offhand but remember this came up in a discussion once.

so for 180+m streak engagement (with enemy ecm) i would be better of taking a tag ?

Yes. Make sure you also have Artemis and you get a 75% lock time reduction when you also have Tag. They both halve lock time.

BAP counters ECM in close (Streak ranges) and ECM in counter mode counters ECM, why would you ever take both if just a counter to ECM is what is desired?

my streak range 396m counter range ecm 180...
