Because one thing this game needs is MORE CLAN LASER VOMIT.

If you didn't understand, that was sarcasm.

Gotta mix it up to keep it interresting. If i don't have 3 or more weapon groups my build is too boring to play with.

Nearly all loadouts are based on existing BattleTech variants (the exceptions are the Heroes that the devs made up). There may be some inflation, but not to that level
Shadow Cat doesn't need it anyway.

Right now it's forced into either a long range poker or a close range support mech.

I can understand it on the heavier 'Mechs that usually use weapons that prevent using them (most notably the Dire Wolf), but the particular arms of the SCat that use only energy weapons? It's not like the thing comes stock with twin ER PPC's, so I don't see why it shouldn't get the option to use at least the lower arm actuators.

While I generally agree, I also believe that it wouldn't be too egregious to add exactly one (1) energy hardpoint to the right arm OmniPod of the SCT-A.
That would result in a total of two (2) energy hardpoints for that OmniPod, a combination of 3E/1M overall for the SCT-A, and still allow no more than four (4) energy hardpoints for any combination of SCT OnmiPods.
It would also be aesthetically-pleasing if they were mounted in an vertical/over-under configuration, rather than a horizontal configuration, and set up so that the barrels of like/twinned weapons were flush with one another (rather than one protruding farther forward than the other).

The shadowcat has neither of these. You can almost bring Gauss Rifle and 2 ERML, but then you only have 1t of Gauss. If we could remove 2-3JJs then it would be viable. Same with a UAC20 build. Both wouldn't be laser vomit and wouldn't require hardpoint changes. Just give it some non-JJ legs or unlock the JJs.
The other issue is that MASC sucks on it. It doesn't really need the Accel/Decel and the speed bonus is so anemic it is laughable. Oh and MASC has too short of a duration. Honestly it is just a waste of 2 tons.
A friend who owns them was playing CW and had been driving the mech all day and suddenly exclaimed, "I forgot this thing has MASC" to which I thought, well you aren't missing much..
I really want to like the Shawdowcat but the only build that is consistant is 2x cLPL. MASC is too anemic for the ERML/SRM build to be good and the Adder does almost everything else better. Heck the Kitfox is pretty comparable for 15 tons less...
Oh and pretty much any Cicada will destroy a Shadowcat, is has the speed and firepower advantage combined with the lower duration IS weapons.
