simple:
1.) too many "8 sandbags + 2 afk" vs "12man organized" matches, where People do not listen to experienced Players and bring crappy loadouts - might as well bring 4 locusts one of These days and see wether i deal more damage then some of those at the weight Limit.
2.) no reward cash and exp for doing objectives solo in the above Setting, so good Players are capped by the always happening 2 afks and the non-pushing sandbaggers... if you try to lead pushes you get yelled at for your low poke damage
3.) waste o time when you can easily farm all the stuff you Need in the regular drop Queues with more fun in less time.

basically suffers because people do not understand how it is supposed to be played and do not liste to people with a plan.

it is a pitty...

It's probably why these are mostly DOA threads... I had such high hopes too.

CW is an acquired taste - that's for sure.

You have to give it time to get the proper flavor of it - but when you do, you then realize it is by far the better game.

I still do the solo queue and the group queue - mostly for tuning up mechs or if I can't get a CW match - but my dedicated play is now pretty much CW exclusively.

Is there still a lot of work to be done? - of course there is. Yet, we have barely scratched the surface of what is possible - there is easily a couple of decades worth of game expansion here.

I agree with what you said, a man can only but dream.
